My 9 week old only sleeps in a swing!

I'm trying to break my 9 week old from sleeping in her swing which is in our living room. She has a beautiful nursery with a bassinet or crib and she only sleeps on the swing. We've had an awful time trying to get her to sleep at all but now that she's only waking up twice during the night I know it's time to get her in her crib. I tried it tonight and she woke up about 15 minutes later. She's back in the swing...she sleeps so well in the swing but I know it's not a proper way to sleep. Is anyone else dealing with this?

  • Is it the swinging she likes or the incline?

  • The swing because there was a point I tried getting her to sleep in the rock and play and she wakes up most of the time. The only time I have luck is after her 6am feeding, I can usually get her back down in her rock and play in her room at that point because she's so tired.
  • DD2 slept in the swing for a few months, maybe 5-6(?), before easily transitioning out if it. I say just do what works. We just moved the swing into our bedroom because DS sleeps in there the best, I reserve it for a last resort only because I like him right next to me in the cosleeper but if it's the only place he is comfortable then I'm not going to take that from him.

  • I'm in the same boat. My DD is 8 weeks today and has been sleeping in her swing for about 3 weeks. She used to sleep ok in her pnp but then some switch flipped and no more pnp. Her swing is now in our bedroom. We sleep for about 5 solid hours. I don't know how transitioning into her crib will go but for now my mantra is "this too shall pass" . GL!

This. Honestly, my 2 year old would only sleep in his swing for like the first 4 months. Then he transitioned easily to a crib at that point. Just do what works, they grow out of this newborn stage before you know it.
