For every new board, they need to kill 3 old ones.
Ha, yes. Totally this. The Bump gods wouldn't know what to kill. You might have had more pull back when there were just Babies 0-6 and Babies 6-12, along with the tri boards and no BMBs. You see, long, long ago, many of the long-posting bump vets did not have such specific choices for their reading pleasure. As a result of this lack of choice came much quality entertainment in the form of drama and discussion. Funny how differing opinion brings a little color to this place. This place has been sloooooow for like 2 years.
Anyway, as far as a plus-size board goes, I'm not sure what the differences would be in terms of pregnancy, other than different weight gain guidelines.
Because there is absolutely no need for one. There are no concerns during pregnancy that are based solely on weight.
We've squashed the idea many times and will continue to do so.
Except there are a lot of health and high risk things that go along with being heavy during pregnancy that don't come with an average weight. And sometimes there are mental and emotional things as well. I do think they should add a board for this. OP, maybe contact a mod, that's all I can think of for now.
Look I'm fat and considered obese. There wasn't one thing that I couldn't and did not ask about on BOTB. There was a poll a few years ago and several woman admitted to being plus sized. There are a lot of morbidly obese posters. They post here. If it is a serious high risk issue, they went/go to the high risk board. There is zero need for another board.
That is the main problem with the boards traffic now. Everything is spread thin. If we consolidated boards, it would seem more active.

CM is correct. There are may health problems associated with being obese when pregnant. These include risk for high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, NICU time for baby, there are many. For more information:

That said, I agree that there does not need to be another board for this. The High Risk board should cover many of these problems.
Yes, there is a higher likelihood. I never said there wasn't. It is not remotely a guarantee that you will have problems. If you are overweight and do not have any of that, you have no reason to be treated any differently than anyone else.
You aren't special simply because you are overweight. You are just like everyone of every other weight unless you actually develop issues, and those issues you listed can happen to someone that is underweight or average weight as well. That's why it's absurd.
There's more than just health risks that can accompany an overweight pregnancy, which I stated in my original post. I think an overweight (or also underweight) and pregnant board makes more sense than an individual "Secondary IF" or "Third-Party Reproduction." Shouldn't that go under "Trouble TTC?" Also, TTC/pregnant after 35 has just as many risks and emotional effects as overweight or underweight TTC/pregnant, yet there's that one available. And no one said their pregnancy was more "special" but if you want to consider high-risk "special", then yes it is "special."
2IF is pretty different from primary infertility or trouble trying to conceive. Third-party reproduction is a whole host of different topics, as is adoption. There are a lot of fun board ideas, but not all of them will serve a purpose.
And here's my advice when it comes to the Internet. The less specific, the better. Who knows who is searching for what in the privacy of their own homes- do you really want "plus sized and pregnant" to come up 1st on a google search when some old dude is looking to get his jollies?
I don't think any boards should be eliminated. I was merely proving a point that if you think one thing should be lumped together, why not other things since IF and Third-Party Reproduction can fit under the Trouble TTC board just like being overweight (actually obese may be a better word since that has more implications) and pregnant can fit under the high risk board, but so can pregnant over 35. I do think all those boards are important, but sometimes there are other issues out there that multiple people may want to discuss and a board hasn't been created. Boards do not have to be eliminated for new ones, but since y'all were determined that we can't fit one more board then I was explaining why can't we combine others if we have to combine the obese and pregnant (since there's just too many boards!).
I've had a couple plus size related questions. Mainly where to find plus size maternity clothes. I had no problems getting plenty of responses on the regular boards.
Third-Party Reproduction is my home board, and I am an egg donor--so how could I ever belong in a Trouble Trying to Conceive board? I'm not TTC at all, let alone having trouble. I'd look like an idiot voyeur if I were hanging out there. I'm not the only one either--Third-Party has surrogates and women who are pregnant or already parenting on it too, not just those TTC. I love my TPR ladies, I would be so sad to be shut out.
Little Man (4 years old---holy cow) He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be. He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.
Re: Random but why is there not a board for plus size mom's?
