Daytime swaddling?

I've noticed that LO sleeps much better at night if he sleeps well during the day. He goes down fine at night but is always swaddled at night, lights off, no noise. During the day, if left to his own devices, he will only sleep for short 25 minutes cat naps unless he's on me where he'll sleep for about 2-3 hours. I contemplating swaddling during the day. Does anyone have experience with this? I don't want him messing up his days/nights. And I don't want to get into the habit of wearing him in order for him to sleep during the day. I have a friend that basically wears her son all day and it's wreaking havoc on her back but she can't put him down.
