Baby Names

Hamish WDYT?

It's my new super name crush. I super-love it. Not that we're near a baby yet, but was wondering about thoughts and pronunciation issues that might occur. Our other boy frontrunners include Beauregard (Beau), Benedict (Ned), and John (Jack). Possible middle names are Leonard, Dale, and Timothy.

Re: Hamish WDYT?

  • Reminds me of food, But maybe I'm pronouncing it wrong?
  • Loading the player...
  • The pronunciation I'm going with is Haim-ish. But I'll admit to be worried about Hamm-ish.

  • Yep I was pronouncing it Hamm-ish.
  • I like it! Benedict with the NN Ned is by far my favorite on your list, though.
  • I know it's haim-ish but my head still just sees ham-ish.

Love it. It is one of my top names for this baby boy but DH isn't as in love with it as I am. Like a pp, I also love Tavish.

Hunger Games has Haymitch, not Hamish.

  • I like it! But I do think there might be pronunciation issues.. Also, one of the little twin boys in the Disney movie Brave was named Hamish. Not that that is a bad association or anything.

  • I want to like it, but it's just too odd sounding to my American ear. Plus it reminds me of ham.

It makes me think of Shakespeare, though. Wasn't that his son?

Benedict nn Ned is freaking adorable.
