Ob gift ?

Is anyone getting a gift for OB/office or even hospital staff? If so what are you giving them and when? Is this even expected? I know it's their job to do what they do but a small token is always appreciated so I was contemplating what to do and to hear other opinions on this.

    Erm....no...I didn't do that and didn't even think twice about it. ETA: On second thought I was going to send a birth announcement thank you note to the office once I get them though

    I wrote a letter to the VP of the hospital about my L&D nurse.  She was AMAZING!!! She held my hand and cried with me during the 2 hours it took them to place my EPI.  And she stayed late (18 minutes past when she was to leave) to watch LO be born and held my leg!  I love love love her. 

    I also sent an edible arrangement to my OB's office.  This is our last LO and he has been my OB since I was 13 (for 17 years) and I adore his office staff as well. I wanted to do something nice because he was really great for me through two very rough pregnancies.

    I'm bringing cookies. This time I'm bringing some for night and day shift. Last time they were gone by morning and that's when I think I started getting annoying and obnoxious. :-h

    I brought cookies to all the nurses and a Starbucks gift card to my favorite L&D nurse.

    Sending Shari's Berries to my ob's office...every one of the dr's were awesome. I wrote a letter singing the praises of every single nurse we came across at the hospital. They were amazing!!! I'll bring the a copy of the letter ai sent to the hospital admin and cookies closer to Christmas.

    My midwife and I have developed a great relationship and she adores Aya. She will be leaving the practice at the end of the year so at my next appointment I will be giving her a pic we took of her with baby girl. I haven't decided if I want to add a little farewell gift to that yet.

    I brought the L&D nurses a fruit tray, I was with them for 36+ hours. Then I brought the other nurses a bunch of chocolates. It is not expected but it does brighten their spirits to know that their hard work has not gone unnoticed. A lot if the nurses are pulling 12 hour shifts, especially the night nurses.

    As a nurse, we're not supposed to accept gifts - we actually signed a contract against it. Tasty treats are a loop hole:) - or a nice thank you note to the department goes a long way

    We ended up getting a bunch of cookies and cholocate for the nurses with a thank you card. I wasn't going to at first but they were so great that I felt I needed to do something. For the nurse who was with through labor before my c section, we got her a gift card as a thank you. We would not have made it through those 12 hous without her.

    I had such a great experience despite a complicated delivery that about a week later I brought two packages, 1 for l&d and 1 for maternity with thank you notes and peppermint patties. Nothing major. Didn't think about the ob's office.

    I delivered a bundt cake from a bakery and a thank you note to the nurses after we were discharged from the hospital. Yes it's their job but I want them to know their "extra TLC" doesn't go unnoticed and it should be rewarded. Some of our nurses were like emotionless robots though so I made sure to mention the specific names of the three awesome nurses who really helped.

    I gave a cookie cake to the labor and delivery nurses with thank you cards for the ones that took extra good care of me. The one who checked me in and started my cervadil actually came over to the mom and baby unit the next day to see how I was doing and to see if I had a boy or girl. (: and one for the mom and baby unit with thank a thank you card off the nurse that took care of us almost the whole time.

    I know it's their job but it's nice to let people know their hard work doesn't go unnoticed. And my moms a nurse. Thank you cards and little gifts just thanking them for caring goes a long way. My mom saves everyone she gets.

    I sent my OB office a batch of Mrs Fields cookies with a thank you note.

    While in the hospital, we ordered pizza for each nurses shift during the 2 days we were there. The nurses were awesome and they sometimes hardly get a chance to eat, so they appreciated the pizza.

    My OB is amazing. This may sound weird, but I think of her as family now. She stayed 6 hours after clinic time, when she wasn't on call, to help deliver my daughter. Cami came out at 11:53 pm, OB stayed until I was settled in post pardum and I saw her at 8 am the next morning. When I got transferred to a different hospital to be close to Cami, she called me to see how I was doing. It annoys the shit out of me that the doctor that performed the section was listed as my doctor and that on the virtual birth announcement that we got from the second hospital, the second hospital was listed as where Cami was born. I seriously wish I could talk to my OB every day. She is awesome.

    So, long story short, I would totally get her a gift but I know she wouldn't accept it.

    We brought donuts and muffins to the staff at the OB's office on one of our last visits. DH also ran out the morning after LO was born and brought back enough donuts for the L&D staff and the Mom and Baby staff.
