I don't like eating thanksgiving dinner at 12 or 1. Each year we do at my grandparents, this year with me on bedrest my parents and Siblings/family is bringing dinner to my place. We are eating at 5ish. So much better!
BFP #1 (7/13/12) MC (8/14) 9 weeks. D & C 8/17. BFP #2 (5/18/13) due 1/26/14. Grow baby grow! Its a surprise! Team green!
I hate riding in the car with my 10 and 8 year old boys. They don't fight and are good but they love to pretend play and it is soooooo effin loud in my ear!!!!!! Shut up kids!!!!!
I hate that I have to go pretend to be all happy with and thankful for H's family. I want to use the excuse of being pregnant so I can just sit on the couch, but I know that's rude.
Sorry if that's more of a FFFC. H is getting on my nerves, and I'm dreading all the small talk. I just want to go to my mom's. /whine over. I know I have a lot to be thankful for and need to buck up.
Totally agree. This is why I'm almost happy that mil doesn't treat DH and I with any type of priority (we haven't had a holiday with her in almost 3 years bc she either flakes last minute or just never responds to our invites, thank god) and we get to spend thanksgiving with my parents and brother.
Also, I am not a fan of the thanksgiving parade. I'm trying to watch it now, and I just don't get it. Giant balloons and people singing on moving platforms? Whatever.

I hate this holiday more than any other holiday. I don't like going around the dinner table stating what we are thankful for. Its akward and makes me uncomfortable. I also despise the Thanksgiving story our children are taught in school. I do like pie though.

I'm not looking forward to spending 5+ hours with MIL. Although that's hardly an unpopular opinion around here. She asked me last night what I was bringing to dinner. "Cupcakes." "Oh I'm bringing 2 kinds of cupcakes!" "I'm bringing a carrot dish too." "Wow I'm making carrots!" Of course you are.
And then calls this morning saying "Just bring whatever you want!" Well thanks but I wasn't planning on changing anything.
I also hate that I have to go and pretend to be happy with my in laws. I'll have to explain to DH's grandma for the millionth time that we don't know what we're having and she can just buy us yellow, green, and grey clothes or wait until the baby is born. I also get to listen to my H's sisters argue all day and eat crappy turkey. Thank God for my BIL and his wife and their amazing sweet potatoes and desserts!
My UO is that I am very excited for today and I enjoy prepping everything, seeing everyone and eating a lot. Who knew that Thanksgiving excitement would be UO?
I hate that my family uses milk or butter in practically every dish.
This means my DS2 won't be able eat it (dairy allergy). It also means I have to bring my own food for him so he has something to eat. We tell our families all the time and they know this, yet he will only be able to eat the turkey without a reaction. :-/
I also went gluten free so I'm not as excited for Thanksgiving as I have been in the past. No stuffing or pie for me. Boo
I don't care about stores opening today. I'm tired of hearing about it. If the majority of Americans wouldn't be willing to shop today then the stores wouldn't open earlier. I blame the consumer, not the store in this case.
From a Canuck - American Thanksgiving is WAY too close to Christmas. Why would you have two major holidays within like 3-4 weeks? It just seems like it makes it harder for people to go home for both. I love ours at the beginning of October - in university it was a great distance between the start of school and Christmas so people could go home for the holidays both times.
I don't care if people "disrespect" Thanksgiving by putting up their Christmas decorations. I love Christmas and like it to last. I have always found Thanksgiving to be a bit dull--it is based on a false historical premise and people are worried about it losing its true meaning? Whatevs.
I am also sick of hearing people bitch and moan about stores being open on Thanksgiving. I worked holidays all through college, and my dad and brother still do. They rely on the holiday pay. Not everyone has a paid vacation day today. If you do, be grateful.
Green bean casseroles are not allowed within 20 feet of me.
Also, neither is that corn casserole dish either. I love veggies, but not those dishes.
And I gagged. Just thinkin about it.
I hate green beans anything!!
Based on the maternity leave post yesterday, this is probably a UO.
I have 19 days of work left, and I can't wait to be off for a year!

I don't mind black Friday, I just hate that the stores Are taking over thanksgiving too. Its called black Friday, not Thursday ppl.
Here in Canada, some stores called it "Red Thursday". Personally I don't get it.
I think it's a play off of 'Black Friday' - most retail companies move from 'being in the red' to 'being in the black' around this time of year (as in they start actually making profit for the first time). So Red Thursday they would still be 'in the red'. I think it's accounting terminology...

I knew the whole accounting lingo. I took accounting for 2 years in college. It's just Canada in general hasn't been known for Black Friday until recently we started to copy cat the US. It just seems stupid! They even said on the news this morning that the good deals in Canada will happen after Good Friday.
Thanksgiving is my least favorite holiday. Eating food, that I don't even like, until I feel like I might explode isn't something I enjoy. Either is socializing with H's crazy family.
Re: US Thanksgiving Edition of UO
Cranberries, stuffing, and gravy are gross.
(Thanksgiving is just another dinner for this picky eater).
