For all of you who think you're weird for having names before you were preggo.... we had our names picked out while we were still freshly dating.
We are keeping our names top secret to friends and family until the gender reveal, but I feel as though it's safe to divulge here.
Girl: Adelynn Naomi (jury is still out on the spelling of the first name, but pronounced "Add-uh-lynn") Boy: Asher Ellison (i've noticed some other Ashers on the board too! love it.)
Felix Ollivander for a boy Lola Aisling for a girl.
I love Lola and Aisling. I've seriously considered Aisling, but I'm afraid she'd spend her life explaining how to pronounce it and DH is much more traditional. Awesome names though!! Ollivander takes me back to Harry Potter and the wand maker.
We're having two so we have to have some contingencies. If it's two girls they will be Eleanor Ava (Eleanor for my grandmother who was Nora and Ava for my aunt) and Caroline Marjorie (Marjorie for both of our grandmothers). If it's a boy and a girl it'll be Eleanor Marjorie and Henry Benjamin (Dh's name is Benjamin). We only have one boy name so if there are two we'll be fighting it out for another one.

@ajsweeton Aisling is awesome...do it. I woule use it as a first name, but it is way to close to Asher in pronounciation. I think we'd get the side eye for sure.
Also Felix and Ollivander are both Harry Potter references, completely intentional...huge HP nerd. Felix Felices and Ollivander the wand maker. My H has jokingly reminded me that we are muggles and will birth a muggle...but hey you never know.
This is each of our's second (that sounds weird?) but our first together. We have completely different preferences, he likes traditional, I like more modern yet still uncommon. We've had a few sessions of just throwing names around, but I fear it'll be the end before we can both agree on one. Maybe one of us will just bring one up and both love it. Yeah right!
This was my H and I, we have very different styles. I finally stopped suggesting only first names, and started sending him via text first and middle names that way he could see the spelling and actually have time to say it privately and he saw the light and went with my names.
My H and I too. Completely different styles. He wants to name after people and I just like what I like. My first baby was Elisabeth for his grandmother, then I named Asher, because I just loved the name, and if this one is a girl she will be Lola for his other grandmother. It has taken me a while to get on board with Lola.
Yes, this is MH he wants especially boys to have family names after certain people. Most recently if this baby is a boy he suggested Frank or Bradley. My aunt had a dog named Bradley for almost 20 years, seriously most of life. That is a dog name to me. And Frank? No. No. No. NO.
"What are your kids names?" "Oh yea they're, Aubrey and Frank." :-&
And for a girl? Dorothy. I told him I would think about it for a middle name. But again:

We are having a boy (according to Harmony...I still haven't accepted that yet. I need more proof). We are tossing around Logan Nathaniel. I'm not sure I love it but it is the only name we've kind of agreed on.

We've picked Jase Aiden if it's a boy and Amelia Grace if it's a girl. Not set in stone on them but so far they're the ones we like the most and agree on.

If its a boy it will definitely be Brayden mayburn. Middle name is my papaws name. And if its a girl we've tossed around Aria, Cecilia, Kylieanne, and Rainne.

I love Harry Potter!! I'm a total addict and it would be awesome to birth a Hermione!! I've wished way too often that there was a wizarding world IRL. The first time I heard/saw Aisling was actually in a book as well. I don't know if you're familiar with Katie MacAlister, but she has an Aisling Grey series featuring some paranormal dragons and romance. She's absolutely hilarious and I totally fell in love with Aisling because of her books.

I got Asher from the book The Giver If you fall in love with a name in a book it is impossible to forget.

We're not 100% decided on our name, but I don't plan to tell anyone what we've chosen until baby is here. I really don't want anyone's input or suggestions other than my husband's, so it's easier to not open it up for discussion in the first place.

I don't mind telling people if they ask, I could care less about opinions. In fact, I told my mom, she was less than impressed. Whatever.

DH and I also love HP...I agree there is always hope for non muggle children AND both of our names are from books: Corin--Chronicles of Narnia and Lyra--Golden Compass
We don't have anything set in stone, but hope to by the time we find out the sex. Current frontrunners are Gwenyth and Callan.
We'll probably just tell a few select people. I like the idea of keeping it secret, but I discussed some others we were throwing around and some good points were made that DH and I hadn't thought of that knocked them off the list. So I can't assume that there isn't something I haven't thought of!

Honestly, as far are superstitions are concerned, not really for us, but we will not make the name public knowledge until birth. Maybe a friend or two, my sister, us. But* Our girl names is a beloved family name and we already lost a baby late in the game. I fear H's cousins would never want to use it if we gave it to a baby that didn't make it. Morbid I know. But if the worst happened we wouldn't use this particular name for that reason. It won't of course (right? right?) but we have reservations sharing just in case.
Felix Ollivander for a boy Lola Aisling for a girl.
Before I got pregnant with DD I had a dream that DH and I had a little girl named Lola (a fav. restaurant by our house). When we found out we were having a girl we were set on her name being Lola Lynn... Then I told my mom... She BASHED the name Lola (bc of the song where Lola ended up being a man). I told her I didn't care about the song (which I love by the way) and that no one would even know that song when she was in school. But I couldn't shake it... My mom totally ruined it! DD's name is Adalyn Grace (which I love). Part of me wants to still use Lola if we have another girl... Just to spite my mom. Anyway, I love the name Lola! But she will always be the little girl in my dream...
We are having a girl and we have no idea. We are thinking Katarina. We were thinking Sophia before we knew it was a girl but now it just doesn't seem right!
DH and I always get into a huge fight over names and we don't even know what we are having. He gets his panties in a wad, throws a fit and pouts for a day if I don't LOVE his suggestions. I'm not being stubborn but I'm not going to be bullied into a name I don't like. I think it should be a comprise and not a competition, but I guess DH doesn't feel the same.
We made lists and crossed off ones we hated from eachothers list, then made stars on the ones we loved from eachother's list and eventually narrowed it down to a couple on each list, then I had final say for girl's name, and he had final say for boys name...now all we have to do is find out which we're having!

@whitehousem just from telling people we are thinking about using (like friends) we've gotten a lot of "don't you dares" "stripper's name" etc. Of course H's family will love it. I don't give a rats ass to be real. I've met a wicked cute 4 year old named Lola who is really spicey and full of fun and life. I think people will get over it. It did take me a long time to get used to it. Mostly because of the sons. But H's grandma Lola was an amazing person and I think it is an honor to be named after someone like that.
DH refuses to talk about names until we know whether it's a boy or a girl, but here are my choices:
Charlotte Ruth Charles Walter
Both middle names are family names. I've wanted Charlotte (nn Charlie) for a girl as long as I can remember. The only problem is, if I get a boy and use Charles, I no longer have the option of Charlotte down the road (same nn).
My husband is Charles Walter! Love it.
We have a carter Charles and a Harrison John. Love both. This baby, no clue.

I like to think that the people we name our children after are reflected in their personalities. Lola is a great name, I'm sure she'll follow in her great-grandmothers footsteps.
