On November 13th I went to the doctor and they did a growth ultra sound. Everything with baby was great but because I was already 40 weeks 5 days and my cervix was sealed shut they scheduled an induction for the following Wednesday, November 20th. We got dinner and went into the hospital at 8:30 pm. I got checked in and at 10:30 pm they started cervadil. I refused the sleeping pill because the cramps were manageable and I thought I would be able to sleep. Boy was I wrong.. I didn’t sleep one bit and at 10:30 am they removed the cervadil and I was only 1 cm. They decided to go ahead and start Pitocin and I started having contractions that were getting worse and worse and we assumed I was progressing because of the intensity of them.. I had Alex call mom to come to the hospital. She and Alex helped me breath through the contractions for a while but I decided to get the epidural. At 2:30 pm they gave me the epidural and I was at a 2.. I was finally able to get some sleep! The baby started having dips in his heart rate so they shut off the Pitocin for a while until baby was stable. They broke my water at 3 pm. At 8 pm they checked me again and I was only a 3. They decided that because I had stalled they would do a c section at 10 pm if I hadn’t progressed anymore. I hadn’t.. They got me prepped and at 11:34 pm team green became team blue! The doctors let Alex tell me that we had a son and I burst into tears. We were both so over joyed! Alex held Matthew while they closed me up. I breast fed when I got into recovery. Matthew latched right on and has been a nursing champ! He weighed 7 lbs 5 oz. and was 20 inches long. He’s absolutely perfect!
Once they got in they discovered he was literally holding on with his hands and legs and that's why he couldn't move down and my cervix wouldn't open. My dr. Said he never would of been born vaginally.
