What have you bought already?

I know, I know. It's a bit early to be buying tons of gear but let's be honest with ourselves. We've all picked up a little something, right? Even if it's for your own comfort and not for baby. I'm partially trying to make myself feel better for spending a bit too much this week, but mostly I want to have a discussion that doesn't involve how not fat somebody is or the anticipation of viewing baby crotches. Oooh and phantom fart baby kicks! Can't forget those.

Also I'm a sucker for bargains so tip me off if there's a good deal going on :p

Re: What have you bought already?

  • I bought a lamp and roman shades for the nursery... Which is technically not a nursery yet. I find deals everywhere but I have to move things out before I can move things in.

  • They're not all phantom fart kicks. Some who are 12-14 weeks are actually feeling their babies. It is possible to feel early movement...just not for everyone.
  • It's hard to resist. I bought a couple of maternity tops, a dress, and a bra (gap maternity has good sales). The only thing I bought for Baby was a super cute Elmo bathrobe and towel (gender neutral). A coworker of mine got me presents for the baby already (blankey, binky holder, onesies, and a bathrobe with slippers). She actually gave it to me today. Totally was not expecting that. I'll be 13 weeks tomorrow. :)

So hard to resist!! I understand, if I had seen an elmo or cookie monster anything it would have been purchased in a heartbeat.
Also sounds like you have some super sweet coworkers! I'm jealous :p

  • Baby #2 so nothing. If I don't have it and I can't borrow it. We are going without. Oh wait I did pick up a new pair of maternity jeans it just feeling forever ago since I order in the US then have to wait for family to ship things here. They are for the last 3-4m. I'm starting out 10lbs smaller this time so new everyday jeans are a must.
  • I've bought a cute unisex blanket with a TJ Maxx gift card, and I found a deal on some maternity capris so I got those. I also found the Bella band on clearance so I picked one up. Other than that, a baby book, and some Saints onesies that could go on a boy or girl. That's about it. I'm refraining from buying anything big until I get further into the pregnancy.

  • Nothing yet. I have a two year old boy so if we're having another boy I'm petty much all set except I'll need warmer clothes this time. Also need a new swing but that can wait. I might pick up some swaddlers though since I don't have any. :)
  • Nothing. Way too early for that.
  • Just a few packs of diapers that were on sale at target about a month ago.
  • I bought myself a gallon of dill pickle juice. No, I'm not kidding. I've never been so pleased with any previous purchase, either.

I also acquired a basically brand new changing table for $20 from a tag sale, and I have acquired some various baby stuff as I was working at a store that sold such items LAST SUMMER (not TTC at that point) and the owner kept gifting me one of each new item that she ordered. Can't complain about free Boon gear!

WHERE can I find this gallon of pickle juice????????????? Must have it.

  • I saw the Little Critters stuffed animals and books at Kohls, the ones they have by the check outs for Make a Wish Foundation. I was obsessed with them when I was younger so I bought them because they will switch them out for something different soon and I didn't want to miss them. But that's it.

  • My husband found the crib and changing table he wanted at Costco, and bought it because it was getting discontinued for the season to make room for Christmas stuff. We just returned the crib because we found out we are having twins and can't get a second one anywhere. We are hoping to find matching cribs in the same color as the changing table, but if we can't we will return that as well.

fair warning: it's not badly priced at $7.99, but it had only one shipping option that was like $14.99. so that sucked. Another option is to look up recipes online.

That said, I just made popsicles with it and I could cry at how happy they made me. <3

  • We were at Ikea over Labor Day weekend (our closest ones are 6-8 hours away), so I picked up a couple of crib sheets, curtains for kiddo's room, a bright clothes rack thing and some wooden stacking rings. No plans to buy anything else for a bit.

I ❤️ Ikea. I was spoiled in San Diego with one right there. Now we have to drive 3 hours north or south to Sacramento or LA.

I can't tell you how excited the thought of a pickle juice Popsicle just made me. My mind is blown and I have to do this. I bought a big jar of the claussen pickles you can find in the deli section and drink some of the juice when I get home from work every morning. It's the most delicious thing and now my mouth is watering. This could be dangerous...

  • Just maternity clothes at this point. I do want to start picking up diapers randomly while I'm out and small things weekly (like new shades for the nursery) until we find out the sex of the baby in the next week or two and then I want to go register and try not to go crazy!

I got a changing table/dresser/wardrobe for $25 on Craig's list. The only other thing I picked up were a few sleepers since they were BOGO free.

    Edit: spelling
  • I bought decals for the nursery wall last year when we bought the house (I wanted them so we could pick coordinating paint colors when we painted before moving in). Other than that I have bought two pair of maternity jeans. I think next month we'll start a registry and begin researching the big ticket items but for now that's it.

  • Nothing. I think unless something is on super sale we'll hold off until we know if baby is a boy or girl. If a girl, we have so much from DD that we'll barely need to buy anything. If a boy, well then we'll have our work cut out for us!

@pennypretty I just noticed we kinda have the same pic for the siggy challenge...what's the protocol? I can find a new one if you'd like, it's not a huge deal, and I've no idea who had it "first" LOL

  • We're first time parents so we're starting to pick up a few things here and there now that we've hit 14 weeks. I didn't realize Kohls has an entire baby department online with products they don't offer in stores. We used a bunch of online coupons and kohls cash my mom wasn't planning on using and got a crib mattress, bath tub and diaper pail for great prices. My husband and I are also doing our own little reveal so we each bought a boy/girl outfit in anticipation of our anatomy scan appointment. That's it for now, I think we'll wait for holiday deals and to know the sex before buying anything else.
  • I still have everything from this one, so not a ton of purchasing yet. I did however buy some baby boy clothes very cheaply from a local yardsale, just in case this one is a boy.

I'm picking up a double stroller tomorrow (a graco duo glider) for 10$ from a local mom. They normally retail for 200$.

  • Well since I can't fit into any of my old jeans I bought two pairs of maternity pants and three shirts from Macy's :) they have a huge sale on maternity clothes right now! Got all of that for 100$ Also lol I know it's a bit early to be buying things for baby but I couldn't help myself I have a crib, nursery furniture, a really cool night light that makes the ceiling look like an ocean thanks to amazon (they have really good deals), also a towel warmer, breast pump, and a baby monitor lol I can't help it this will be my first child and he/she will be spoiled and very much loved. I am scared of something happening but staying positive has helped my mommie worries.

Dang, I thought I had scrolled through everyone to double check when I posted it. Obviously we're both too awesome for this game. It's pretty much my favorite One Job! EVER since I'm a dinosaur and have little t-rex arms. Don't know if there's a "protocol" or anything but if there's another other there you like and you don't mind swapping, thanks? ..I only get to my home computer very rarely and can't change my siggy at work for some reason, so I wouldn't be able to switch it if necessary until Monday night.

    I wish I could see everyone's siggy's at work...THIS IS WHY I CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.

I bought some maternity clothes online when there was a decent sale at Old Navy but the jeans aren't as comfy as I hoped.

I *almost* bought a crib on Amazon the other day because it looked really nice and was the color I wanted and was on sale for $85. But then I realized I didn't do any research yet and didn't know if it was actually a good deal or not, so I just figured I had time to get something.

I noticed the Feb '15 board has a baby deal sticky thread that gets updated often so sometimes I will lurk over there to see if there's anything I missed.

Edit: Mixed up my years, sigh.

@KT416‌ Clever girl! I think you probably meant '15, but I got the idea :) years are confusing lately. I've gotten a few funny stares at the OB for pausing a weeee bit too long on the date part of sign and date.
I've been looking at cribs on amazon, too. Everytime I think I have one picked out I end up stumbling upon one I hadn't previously seen. I love amazon and use it for just about everything but the selection can be both amazing and incredibly overwhelming.

  • I've picked up a snap n go and a pack n play with all accessories from people in our Sunday school class, $30 each. Also bought a few baby lit books from steals.com ($3-4 each) since my inner book nerd couldn't resist! I'm trying to not buy much until after baby showers...this is first grandbaby on both sides, and I know we'll be receiving lots (already gotten 2 boxes from parents!)
  • I bought maternity clothes on sale at Kohls, Old Navy, and Motherhood.

I went through my sisters donate bin and grabbed a breast pump, blankets, sheet sets, and a cute little towel robe. I also ran in the Ragnar Relay, so at their swag tent I purchased a onesie (since baby ran too ;) )
  • I have purchased 2 fall/winter maternity tops (our kohls is closing out their maternity section. I got a cute sweater and shirt for less than $20) and I bought a little girlie romper because it's $3 and ADORABLE... And because I know a handful of people due around the same time so if it's an adorable cheap shower gift instead, it's still a win in my book. :) (plus, baby #1 was a boy so I couldn't resist! I've bought boy stuff for 2yrs!)

However the growing kids consignment sale opens to the public today in my town.... Sooooo.... I'm at least getting more maternity clothes for the winter.
  • I haven't bought anything for the baby yet because I'm too superstitious. My brother gave me his daughters crib and I won't even look at it or lye it in my house until the third tri. I've bought maternity clothes because I need them but that's it

  • I haven't bought a thing but I do have very strong impulses to but things everytime I walk by the baby section. I just want to wait until I find out the sex if the LO first.
  • I have purchased... nothing. Perhaps I'm waiting for 12 weeks? I dunno. Just haven't had the urge yet.
