Morning mingle

Morning ladies! What are you up to this morning? Anything left to get done before thanksgiving?

QOTM: now that we're all settled in(ish) to motherhood, how are you carving out you time? And what does that time usually consist of for you?

Re: Morning mingle

  • Today is my Friday and it's going to be crazy. Way too much to do at work, then coming home to get everything packed for our trip...we leave tomorrow morning. I'm trying not to stress.

Qotm: since returning to work on the 7th I've pretty much given up any me time to spend with LO. Maybe that will change but right now that's all I want when I get home from work. When she goes down early i get a nice relaxing bubble bath in. Oh how I missed those scalding got baths during pregnancy!

I'm making chicken noodle soup from scratch including the stock. Yesterday I cleaned the apt from top to bottom and ironed four baskets of LO clothes! so I might chill today! Usually my day consists of housework, feeding LO, walking the dog, playing with LO, etc. although I do have mommy guilt that im not playing with him enough, doing enough tummy time etc.

  • LO & I will be hitting the grocery store today to get groceries for the rest of the week, stuff to make Hershey's kiss cookies, and a couple bottles of wine for Thanksgiving.

My days are a blur; I don't know where the time goes when I'm with LO.  My days consist of dishes, diapers, laundry, diapers, cleaning bottles, nursing, more diapers, & lots of cuddles.

  • I have my first get together with the new mom walking group today. I'm really bad at meeting new people, so we'll see how it goes. I also have the stamina of a manatee, so there's that.

QOTM: my little "sparkler" is really demanding. She refuses a bottle so I'm on demand 24/7. If I put her in the kick and play I get 5 minutes, the swing gets me 10, wearing her facing in - half an hour, wearing her facing out - an hour. I don't get much of a break unless she's asleep, it's exhausting. She needs constant stimulation. There isn't much me time anymore.

  • I don't have anything left to do before thanksgiving... Luckily I am not hosting or making any big drives anywhere.

My days consist of hanging out with LO, taking walks with her and my dog if the weather permits, and trying to keep my house neat. I know, exciting. Next week when I go back to work I will be getting up at 5 to get myself ready, getting LO up at 6, and getting her ready and fed, daycare by 6:30, and at work by 7:30. Off at 4, pick her up by 4:30, then home for the evening.

  • I'm going shopping for the rest of the food for Thanksgiving today.  Stores were insane yesterday, so it should be fun!  DH is off today, so we're gonna get the house cleaned up and probably put up Christmas decorations.  I didn't want to put them up until after Thanksgiving, but I'm getting antsy!

QOTD:  My day usually consists of trying to get a handle on taking care of LO as well as making sure the house is being kept up.  While LO is still little, I spend a lot of my day cuddling and playing with her, and not so much time on things like laundry or dishes.

From scratch?! And the ironing too?? This post is impressive! Way to go super woman! :)
    Aw thanks!
:) it's nice that someone acknowledges my hard work! The last few days have been particularly productive, usually it's an achievement if I brush my hair!

  • Today it's been 1 month since my mom passed. Yesterday I did my thanksgiving shopping and couldn't help but think if her. It was an emotional day for me.

On a happier note, I made cranberry vinaigrette for the salad I will be making for Thanksgiving.

LO is also thisclose to rolling over, she just has to get her arm out of the way.

I'm still struggling with finding *me* time. My husband works nights and long hours so I take care of E the majority of the time. I don't mind, he works really hard to provide better for our family. I try to get caught up on laundry, dinner, I'm also trying to learn how to knit but it's not working out (don't think I like it very much lol). Still figuring it out as I go but it's getting better :)

Sorry about your mom. Hugs! Our LO just rolled over yesterday! I cried like a baby!We helped him a little bit by tucking his elbows right into his side when he was up on them!

She was getting so frustrated I helped her out a little bit but she has yet to do it on her own. One day I'm going to turn around and she's going to be on her tummy, I just know it. :)

I made chicken noodle from scratch last week... I even made the egg noodles (don't know what came over me lol). I put a little turmeric in it and it turned out delish! Hope yours does too! :)

  • I'm still in bed. It's not quite 7am though. I'm also cuddling LO, and I can hear DS singing in his bedroom. A cup of tea and Sesame Street are calling my name, and I really want to eat the leftover cheeseburger that's in the fridge.

Hm, me time? Lol. The only me time I get in the day is when DS goes for a nap for 1-2 hours. USUALLY LO will have a nap around the sametime, so once that happeneds I sit.. And it's great.

Yesterday I managed to do all of our laundry, fold and put it away. I vaccumed, and did other housework as well as kept DS entertained and played with LO. I'm tired

  • My days are usually pretty productive. Piper has started to consolidate her naps (knock on wood) and she's been taking a 1.5-2hr morning nap and another one in the afternoon. During that time I usually get the kitchen cleaned, dinner prepped, and then just general tidying around. If I'm feeling lazy then I'm plunked on the couch with a coffee watching some TLC. I have GREAT plans for nap times...knitting, working out, etc...but none every really come to fruition.

Me time is still few and far between, but that's cool. Piper goes down around 7 or 7:30 so I get a good few hours with H and my older son. It's a lot of fun. I do try and get one on one time with my oldest, and that almost feels like me time right now.

Left to do: I'm bringing the sweet potatoes (Thank you Pioneer Woman) and an Apple Bundt Cake (Thank you Martha Stewart).  I bought everything last night but between tonight and tomorrow I actually need to start working on them.

QOTD:  Since starting work I don't really carve out much *me* time.  I'm happy spending my evenings and weekends with LO and MH.  However, I'm desperate for a pedicure so I may need to carve some time for myself this weekend.

I was able to do some crafting while LO napped on Sunday.  That was great.  I finished making his Thanksgiving outfit :)

  • Moms group this morning and meeting up with my brother in the afternoon (he is in town from Hawaii with SIL and niece).

Me time? What's that? I can't even take a shower alone anymore because DH and LO camp out in the bathroom while I'm in there for various reasons.

  • Today I might go to AAA and buy disneyland tickets but then I might just stay home and relax. We are going to my parents for thanksgiving lunch and then my ILS for dinner. DH will need a wheelbarrow to get me to the car.

Me time is few and far between. DH works nights and has been working a lot of ot for Xmas money. But he is on vacation after thurs morning so I'm shopping Friday with my mommy. I also will prob go get my hair and toes done next week.
  • I still have all of my shopping to do, but I prefer going at night or early in the morning to cut down on the crazies battling over evaporated milk. I'm bringing apple sausage stuffing and rolls to my family's dinner, and have no idea what to bring to my husband's family's dinner.

It's kind of funny, but I don't really want "me" time. Since I'm at work all day, I only get to see LO a few hours during the evening. If I ever have spare time, I just want to spend it with him. I've even had a few girls' nights out with friends, but I can't wait to get home to him. I'm sure that will change someday, but for now, that's how it is.

I have to get some last minute items. DH and I are hosting so the two of us will make everything. It's a small group so we do chicken instead of turkey.

Sadly, I consider my time at work "me time". My sparkler is very demanding and DH works crazy, unpredictable hours. There's barely time to shower let alone do something fun.

  • Fell down the steps this morning on the way out the door -- with E. Thank god he was in his car seat and it landed right side up. I, however, went ass over teakettle and landed with all of the weight (of me, him+car seat, diaper bag, and pump bag) on my knees. I'm hurting this morning. I kind of realized over the weekend that I would rather spend my "me time" with E instead of alone most of the time. He is starting to laugh and talk a lot and he had me smiling so hard this weekend I thought my face would break. I did, however, go to the movies with my girlfriend (E's babysitter) this weekend to see Catching Fire and it was nice to get out for a bit too :)
Yikes! Put some ice on there. I'm sorry you are hurting!

I agree with HR...I like spending "me time" with G. I've been getting increasingly anxious of other people holding her though...is that normal? The more she smiles/laughs the more I want to be the one making her smile...I know it's selfish and unhealthy. I'm not acting on anything, just a feeling...:-/ I still share. ;)

When DH gets home from work, I take 30 minutes though and walk my dog and then take a super hot shower. Then we all play/hang out until she falls asleep.

My dh does this too. I was washing my face the other night and was only in the bathroom for like 30 seconds and he opens the door and says he thinks ds needs a feed and when will I be done!??? I nearly drop kicked him off our balcony!!ugh men!!

  • Today is my Friday at work too. I'm on a field trip, so I've had some time to check-in. I still have to pack us up for our trip home, but laundry is almost done & I'll finish the rest tonight. I'll do my part for food once we get into town.

As far as "me " time, DH & I try to help each other out with that. This past week at work was tough, so I went for a pedicure. When I commented about how fast the time went, he agreed to the opposite :)

  • I'm working this morning. Dh, DS, and I are all battling colds/sinus infections, so the closer it gets to thanksgiving, the less likely it is that we'll make it to see family. I'm really upset that we'd miss it with my family as I don't get to see them that often and have never missed Thanksgiving, but we made a pact that if we don't see my family, we won't see his either (even though they are somewhat closer). That makes me feel a little better. If anything, I will have the two people I am most thankful for with me.

Qotd: I take a shower every day. That is my me time. Since DS is in daycare, I only get to see him for an hour before it's time for bed, or for the time it takes us to get him ready in the morning. That's why the weekends are spent as a family as much as possible. I really need a pedicure though, so I may try to do that this weekend.

  • I just got back from a trip home with LO to see friends for 4 days. Was exactly what I needed. Had a blast. I got home yesterday morning went grocery shopping straight from the airport for thanksgiving, and I'm starting on the bread today, and tomorrow starting on the sides and bird. It's my first Thanksgiving where I'm cooking all by myself just for my little family. I couldn't be more excited.

I bake ALOT. I wanted to be a pastry chef way back when. That's my "me" time. I've never really done a lot of me time, though anyway...I feel like I get much more gratification from doing something for my H, or someone else. So I'll bake something, which is like therapy to me, and watching him enjoy it makes me feel awesome. MH, though, is struggling with trying to balance everything out. He works 15 hours a day. I feel bad. But he never complains. He's a trooper.

  • Today we are going to the ped for Jackson's ER follow up. Took so long because I was hoping to go to the new one but can't change until the first of the month. After that we'll be heading to target to get some diapers( man I miss my cloth, have to treat them and be sure his rash is gone gone, though the sposies are amazing ON I most say). After that head over to grams house since she watches Jackson there today when I'm at work. Also have to get some apples, I'm making apple pie for thanksgiving.

QOTM: hmmm... I don't know if its too early for it but LO seems to already be in the "I'm gonna be upset the whole time momma's gone phase" found this out with work and it can be any time of day with different people watching him and he's just not happy until I get home. And it makes me so sad to think he's just crying and upset the whole time I'm out. So most "me" time is mommy and me time with LO. He's great going places though so I'm content with that. Though me and DH are trying to get in a couple date nights a month without him. That works for me

  • Now that I am back at work most my me time is with LO which I love. But I do have an hour in the morning (6-7) that is for me. I get up at 5:30 and feed LO and hold him sleeping till about 6. Then he goes back in his rnp and the rnp goes next to DH. Then from 6-7 it's just me. It consists of taking a shower and getting ready for work but also about 15 mins of sitting down with some toast and a cup of coffee. It's my new little morning ritual which I am very fond of.

More packing to be done this morning, this evening is my last night of work before we leave on vacation for 2 weeks! I'm totally excited! :D

  • I haven't ever had to host or help with thanksgiving dinner- my MiL is a planner and so efficient she cooks days ahead of time and my mom makes the turkey the day of and a few easy side dishes, my job is to travel between the two houses this year and make sure both families have time with LO and save room for two dinners! I'm having my sisters and dad over Friday but we are going to make something non traditional or maybe sneak some turkey leftovers to serve.

My days with LO are spent playing, feeding and running errands. I usually Go on one walk a day with him and the dog, clean the house, run an errand or two, prep dinner and sometimes am able to fit in a workout with the hubs when he gets home-I also lay in bed with coffee and Lo until at least 9am but all this is about to change when I go back to work on Monday :(( LO eats every 2.5 hours, naps for about 30-60 mins and is usually asleep between 8/8:30 but still wakes up once in the MOTN and is up in the morning anywhere between 7 and 8:30 so I may have to wake him to feed before I leave now.
