Breast milk storage bottles

My best friend gave me 44 milk storage bottles that can be reused. They are brand new. Her aunt works at an OB office, and gets free samples all the time.
Has anybody ever used Abbott breast storage bottles before?
I was going to buy the bags, but figured these were free and i would try these out.

She also gave me about 15 medium cans of enfamil formula for 0-3 months. I'll probably use that if I don't produce enough milk.
I feel like I majorly scored haha.

And that was my excitement for the week. Lol

  • 44 seems like a lot...

I might send some to my secret elf person from our birth month :) maybe they will use some. Lol

  • For storage bottles, I was happy to have about 20. Between a supply for daycare plus me pumping plus forgetting to wash everything the day it came home, we probably needed 18 or so.

  • I used the Medela storage bags and they were fantastic and took up way less room.  I wouldn't even bother with the bottles, honestly.

  • Yep, the bags are much more convenient. Especially since it's a good idea to freeze in small increments (2-3 oz) until you see how you LO likes to take frozen milk. The bottles will take up a ridiculous amount of space.

  • Sounds like a score to me! I was actually just talking to my neighbor last night about how she stored and sent to daycare. She said that just out of personal preference and because she didn't freeze much, she really liked the smaller size storage bottles. She would pump into those and warm milk 4 oz at a time because her daughter rarely finishes an 8-9 oz feeding and apparently you can't reheat breastmilk once it has already been warmed once.

My aunt offered me like 30 storage bottles and I thought it was a lot until the convo I had last night! :)

  • Well I'm not really worried about space so much. DH & I only really do the fresh foods stuff, but bags seem easier.
The bottles are only 2 oz so i think ill give it a shot since i got them for free.
But, I need to get rid of most of them
    Now. Lol

AZ ladies- if you want some, message me. I can mail some. Lol

  • for freezing, I totally preferred the bags. Those little bottles are only about 2-2.5 oz & that is not a whole lot if you are a successful milk producer. I much more prefered the 6oz and 8oz Medela bottles for storage in the fridge.  I used the little ones I have like that for measuring 2 oz at a time to pour into my storage bags as I created my freezer stash. (Which I was really grateful for for the last few months of nursing!)  Other than that, the little ones I only used early on when DS was real little & might only take 2 oz to before nodding off. (& that was only when it was DH feeding him. If I was home, he just nursed directly)

For me, 6-8 were more than enough for that size. :)
