@That+One+Girl Do you ever feel like the Black Dagger Brotherhood series is like Grey's Anatomy but with vampire drama instead of hospital drama? The books are so over the top melodramatic that sometimes I can't really sink into the story and then the drama just gets funny.
Depending on my mood I love them or giggle at how over the top they can get. But then again most of what I have read from j r ward is that way.
I'm a huge fan of historical fiction, so a few of my favorite authors are Ken Follet, Edward Rutherfurd and Phillipa Gregory.
Philipa is probably my favorite, I absolutely adore her books! If you like a great story while also learning a lot Rutherford's books are fascinating.
Like your taste!!! I would also recommend Ken Follet. I just read my first Phillipa Gregory book "The Constant Princess" which one would you recommend to read next?
If you liked that one, all the books in the Tudor series are good. Other Boleyn Girl was the first one i read and in that series and i loved it. the other queen and the queen's fool are good too. really, i love all of her books.
also, her Wideacre Trilogy is really great. it's a bit dark and sometimes distrubing, but i loved it.
I have to second Catch-22 as a book that everyone should read. It's the funniest book ever.
I'm currently sucked into the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. It's not high fantasy, just a really detailed and interesting world with tons of great characters.
If you like satire and humor there's always Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld series or anything by Douglas Adams. Classics.
Have you read 11/22/63 by Stephen King? Not too freaky and really good. Also loved Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. Sarah Jio's books are page-turners (somewhat romance). Raven Boys is in the sci fi genre and really good. Rules of Civility was one of my fave reads of the year. If you likeHunger Games, you'd like Divergent series. J.D. Robb series have mystery/sci fi/crime/romance and are juicy reads. I really liked the Tragedy Paper as well, but it's more young adults. John Green is also a good young adult author (start with The Fault in our Stars). If you like 50 shades of grey but want something less x-rated, try Beautiful Disaster.

OMG! 11/22/63 was amazing! It was really long, but I could not put it down!
Me too! SO much more engaging than Under the Dome. I liked that one, but felt like SK was just phoning it in.
If you haven't read the hunger games trilogy I suggest it. Also, an awesome crime/mystery series is the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. They are intriguing, suspenseful, and funny in some places to relieve the tension! Plus, there are a ton of them out (I think she is up to 19 ) so they could keep you entertained for a while.
