What age?

At what age do you consider your little one a toddler?

I used to work in a daycare and for Head Start and they always considered toddlers to be 15 months-3 years. I'm just curious what everyone else thinks the magical age is.

Re: What age?

  • 15 months sounds about right.  DD seemed like a toddler at about 12 months, because she was actually walking (toddling).  DS is almost 3 & I'd say he's past toddler now.  So maybe up to 2.5 or 2.75.

Just because I've heard that is the standard definition. I don't know this to be 100%. DS will probably always be baby H!

This is actually what got me curious. I was reading an article and it mentioned toddlerhood starting at one. This was surprising to me because I always thought it was 15 months.

  • 15-18 months in my head. Although I still need DD2 to start walking to even consider her a toddler.

  • Approx 1-3.  DD was walking by 9 months so technically a "toddler" but still seemed like such a baby.   I think the upper end has to do with both being really verbal and being potty trained.  So walking--->conversational talking/potty trained are my general cutoffs.

    Although...why does it matter?

It doesn't matter. I was just curious what others thought.

  • I don't know what you are talking about. I still have two babies and always will. :la la la la:

Seriously though, DH uses the "t" word all the time but I still call them babies and they still smile when I do. I honestly have always thought 2 years was toddlerhood but maybe I am wrong.

  • I think he's a toddler now. Tantrums, walking, words...I still call him the baby, though.
  • I guess I figured it was after they turned one.

    Or whenever they started toddling?
  • one- when they start toddling? ;)
