Runner's weekly check in!

Ok! How did the week go? This can include runners who are walking and waiting to be cleared also. :)
1. What were you able to accomplish?
2. Why do you run? What drives you?
3. What is your goal for this week ahead?

For myself,
1. I got two runs in! My mom watched caden and I ran on Thursday. About 2 miles. Walked a little here and there, did some lunges too. Felt sooooo good. Did the same thing on Friday. Very sore on Saturday.
2. I discovered on that first run back that it was the first time that I felt like myself again. I am going to be running to remind myself of who I am. Also to get fit and feel good.
3. I want to get 1-2 runs in this week again and at least walk with lo most other days.

Wish I had time to run again... but would rather spend time with my girl right now since I'm back at work in a week

I run because I l ove the feeling of accomplishment and the high afterward!
  • Loading the player...
  • I planned to, but then I got mastitis again. Running with a wicked sore breast sounded completely unappealing!

I run to be fit. Training for a race helps drive me. Sometimes I love it but other times I hate it! Wish I always loved it because that makes it sooooo much easier to go on long runs!

Next week's goal is to get in at least 3 good runs!

After almost 3 years of IF and a crazy roadside delivery, we are loving life with our second beautiful daughter! Lilypie First Birthday tickers

  • Not cleared to run until Tuesday but

    1. I went on 2 three mile walks. Would have done more but my cold weather clothes don't fit and weather changed.

    2. I run to show I can. I am asthmatic and grew up thinking I couldn't. Also, it helps me clear my mind.

    3. Assuming I am cleared this week, I plan to start couch 2 5k to rebuild my base. After a month on bed rest at the end of pregnancy my endurance took a huge hit! Also plan to not completely over eat on Thursday.
  • I got 4 runs in this week, and was able to run the whole mile (I was alternating running and walking last week). Sounds lame when I say the "whole" mile because pre-pregnancy I was running 7 as my long runs (and pre first pregnancy it was 12) but I guess I have to start back somewhere!

Running is such a stress reliever for me... Especially when DH an DS are driving me nuts.

This week I'm aiming for at least 3 runs and id like to do 1.5 miles by the last run for the week.

  • I'm so envious you all have time and energy to run already! I'm still in survival mode with these girls but hopefully will start back up this winter.

I run because it makes me feel good. I'm a relatively new runner and like the feeling of accomplishment I get every time I reach a new speed or distance goal. My goal for the near future is just to start walking again and get back into it slowly.

  • I can't wait to run again! I still have drop foot from delivery in both feet. Slowly but surely it's improving. Hoping to be able to run by March next year (when Tennis season starts!)

    1. What were you able to accomplish?

NADA! Well... a gimpy walk w/ the stroller. Now it's too cold here.

    2. Why do you run? What drives you?

Not sure! I did track in high school and since then have always been a runner. It just feels good on the body to get a good workout in.

    3. What is your goal for this week ahead?

PT for my feet so I can eventually run again! :) I'm jusstt starting to feel like I could go for a run, regardless of the drop foot. I'm 6 weeks postpartum. Kudos to you all already back on the saddle

  • I only got in one half mile run during a workout. I was sucking wind the whole time. It was kind of awful. I had that burning in the throat feeling and was wheezing. It was a little embarrassing.

This week, I'll run whatever is scheduled in the workouts. Although, a nice Turkey Day run would be awesome, I have done one the past 4 years.

I run for exercise but also for stress relief. Sometimes, I just need a nice run, music blasting and brain on autopilot. It frees me.
  • I only got one run in this week but taking it easy since I'm not cleared yet. Only a mile but it was great to feel like myself. I've been walking 2-3 miles daily so I trust my body is okay for short runs. My family is doing a Turkey Day run/walk 5k. My goal is to run some of it but at 5 weeks PP I'm glad to be participating.

I run because I love the challenge and feeling of accomplishment. Also, I love I can always get a good workout as long as I have my sneakers.

My goal is to be ready for a half marathon in May.

I decided to walk first before running. LoL

    1. I got to go out once on Friday for an hour walk and did 2 1/2 miles

    2. Why? Cause I really want to get out if the house and it's cool enough out to be comfortable. What drives me is that I will get more stamina to catch DS when he startes getting into things.

3 my goal this week is to get out 3x this week and throw some jogging into the walking.
  • Still not cleared to run but I went to the gorge in the Pacific Northwest and hiked for a few miles with LO in the ergo. I also did 3, 4 mile fast walks through the neighborhood, the weathers been freezing here but clear and sunny so great for getting out! I started running about 2 years ago after hating running because of intense pressure from running track in high school. I completed my first marathon the spring before I got KO and the feeling of accomplishment was amazing and motivated me in every area of my life! I love the feeling of freedom, health and the high I get after running. I totally agree, I feel like me when I run and I'm starting to really need that! The idea of a turkey day run sounds great, maybe I'll sneak out for a little run Thursday! DH is being such a pain and really doesn't want me running until I'm cleared even though I had an uncomplicated delivery and feel great. Ah, I think he's secretly terrified I'll hurt myself down yonder and further prolong the return to sexy time! Anyways my goal for the week is 4 long walks and maybe 1 short run! I love that we are doing these check ins, thanks ladies and @kcs7!

  • 1. I was only able to run once between work and DD. I pushed myself a little to hard since it was my first one after being cleared.
    2. I run because it really makes me fel good about myself, it's a great work out, and an awesome stress reliever.
    3. My goal this week is two runs, I'm hoping to increase them until I'm running 5-6 days a week again, and gradually increase the distance.
  • Nice job ladies!!! Everything is worthy of a pat on the back no matter how small an accomplishment! I want to reply to so many of these and I might get time later who knows, but I enjoyed reading all of them and want to say way to go! :) love it!

  • 1. Haven't been cleared yet - so no runs for me this week. But I moving around more, the LO always stops crying when I go up and down our stairs - so we have been doing lots of stair climbing.

    2. I run because I like the sense of accomplishment and how I feel afterwords. Also it helps me fit into my clothes. My motto is exercise to eat - I suck at diets.

    3. I put my name in for the Nike women's half marathon lotto. The race is in April in DC. I ran it last year and it was a great route. So hopefully with a goal it will help motivate me as it starts to get wicked cold in the northern Midwest. So fingers crossed that I get in this year.

  • My goal for last week and all weeks going forward is to workout at least 3x and I ran 2x last week, did strength and abs another day and walked the other with LO. In pretty happy wth that.
