Has anyone else started discussing names?

I know its still very early, but I told my DH that I wanted to start talking about names now, since we can't agree on any. I'm hoping that by starting early we will eventually find names we can agree on. (Plus it gives me time to change my mind (: and convince DH all over again)

So far, top name choices are:
Me
Boy: William
Girl: Eliana
DH
Boy: Alexander
Girl: Elizabeth

You're not alone! I wanted to ask the name question too but thought you'd all laugh at me. I've been on the name board so much lately!

We like to announce name when we find out baby's sex. So that cuts down our time. We used the time TTC to discuss names. We're done and it feels good :)

    Boy: Xander Roland
    Girl: Miranda Nicole

For yours & DHs I love love Eliana!

  • We had a boy name picked out last time and had a girl, so the boy name is still a top pick for both of us... and I picked out a girl name before I was even pregnant this time lol. I love names!

I love Eliana AND Elizabeth :) I named my DD Eliza actually because my middle name is Elizabeth and liked the variation on it.

Our boy name is Caleb (middle name options are currently Richard, Arthur or Andrews) still very unsure about that

Girl name is Cora (currently lol) and no middle name yet

    Eliza born 1-25-12
    Baby 2 EDD 7-18-14
  • We have been throwing names around for a little bit now. Seems as though my friends who have had babies before us have used many of the ones I liked....good thing there are so many names! :)

Right now for a boy we both really like Harrison. The middle name will be Robert no matter what the first name is because most of the men in DH's family use that. Don't want to break that tradition.

As far as a girl, I like Eleanor and Berkeley. Eleanor was my Great Grandmother's name and Berkeley is actually the name of the town where a lot of my family lives/has lived...I like names with family meaning.

  • We picked names early and decided on one for DS and one month before he was born I changed my mind. Picked 3 different ones and decided which when I saw his face. :)

@missgore04 I'm a sucker for the name Eleanor! I just met an 18m old named Eleanor, I love that she went by the full name too not Elly.

Loving the names all you ladies are throwing around.

I'm intrigued to watch this process play out, and what the baby is actually named.

  • I'm always going to root for names that aren't so popular at the time...my name is Hillary and I have always loved being the only Hillary (other than Clinton haha) that most people know! :)

Hillary is such a beautiful underused name. I'm adding it to my list. :) DH will veto due to 3 syllables.

  • I think we've discussed names a couple times but I missed those discussions so I'll play this one!

Boy: Carter Gregg This is almost definite. DH loves it and although the FN not my first choice, it was on my list so I'm good with it. Gregg is my dad's name and also a family name.

Girl: Amelia (NN Lia) or Gianna. MN will be either Grace or Adeline (after one of our grandmothers). This might be one of those wait and see what fits her if it's a girl. I loooove Gianna but am unsure of it bc of the potential NN Gigi which I despise (sorry if someone likes it!)

@eadams08 I love Eliana. So pretty!
@aboynamedbarry Cora is pretty and goes well with Eliza! As does Caleb.
@salsera29 Camilla was on my list but DH vetoed it. I love it!
@jessa8907 I'm digging Evander. It's different without being youneek.

  • We're going to wait until we find out the sex of the baby before we bounce names around.  We'll be in trouble if it's a girl.  I feel like we used up all the girls names we both agreed on.  My husband prefers bold unusual names and I like classic names.  I've won him over 3 times before but he's pretty determined to pick something wild.  I'm pretty sure we're avoiding talking about it because we know there will be a spirited debate.
  • We had a list started before we even conceived! We like different names.

    Girl: Aliyah Jade

Boy: Raiden David (David after my dad who passed) or Cayson or Landon.

They are bound to change but we've been liking those for a while :)
  • I'm always going to root for names that aren't so popular at the time...my name is Hillary and I have always loved being the only Hillary (other than Clinton haha) that most people know! :)
Hey gore is my maiden name;)

We're starting early- eh hem, I'm starting early, DH was still undecided all the way until during my labor, I want something solidified going to the hosp this time;)
I'm partial to A names right now. Anabelle or Arabella are at the top now. I also like chloe or Zoe.
    imageimage"">

  • we started discussing them when we decided to start TTC :-) we change our minds with a lot of things quick so we knew we needed time.
Girl: Margaret Isabel. Margaret after my mom and Isabel after Queen Isabel who persuaded King Ferdinand to allow Christopher Colombus to travel a new route to the west indies. as a kid, i love that name so it just stuck with me.
Boy: Wesley Aohdan. We used our dad's initials to find the names, and our favorite movie as kids was Princess Bride so OF COURSE we had to pick Wesley. Aohdan sounds strong and classic, almost mystical, and it means Fiery :-)

  • That's neat, @turtlemonsters :)  That was my old AOL screename years ago...just left it on here after using The Nest. I was in a pageant a while back which left me with the title of "Miss Gore."

  • I love Bear and River for a boy. I don't like anything else!

For a girl, Louisa is my fav right now.

"Your truth is different from my truth, and we're both right."

  • Luckily the rounds we made over DS's name have us a good foundation for this next one. I want to put my dads names( any of the three) in the next child's name weather it's a girl or boy.

  • Umm... we picked like, umm.. a year before I went off birth control?  I'm such a planner, but when we started throwing names around, we came across a couple we liked really fast.

So for a boy, Xavier Thomas, and for a girl, Scarlett Olivia.
  • We've had our first names picked out for over a year (we've been trying for a couple of years), and decided on middle names this week. We've both been teaching for 15 years, which makes it a little tricky, but here they are:

    Girl: Lucy Catherine
    Boy: Wyatt Andrew

The middle names are both family names. :)

  • We have been talking names for a while. Here's what we have so far:

    Girl:
Adeline Jane (after DH's mom and grandma)
    Boy:
    Palmer Max (after my grandpa)

I also LOVE the names Ainsley and Knox but DH is not as excited about those.
  • We have been talking about names for our second ever since I was pregnant with DD. For a girl it will be Clover Elizabeth and for a boy it will be Kirk (no middle name yet). Our DD's name is Echo so we have weird taste in names :-)

For DD1 I wanted Ainsley soooo bad but DH wasn't on board. This time around I love love Evelyn but again he's not on board. Oh compromising...

Haha. My DH actually named our fish Ainsley thinking I wouldn't want to name our daughter after a fish. I told him that if he passes out in the delivery room I am naming her Ainsley. Haha. My compromising only goes so far.
  • Yes! If it's a boy he'll be named after DH: Timothy Joseph and well call him TJ. Girls: I like Alexandra and Clara and DH likes Ella

Boy: John Douglas IV (after DH - there have been three men with this name, first 2 were called Doug and my DH is called Jack, so we really want to name the boy the same, even though the IV is a little ridiculous, and finally call one John. I love the name. Classic and simple).

Girl: Ann for definite first name - my grandmother's. Possible middle names: Lowry, Paulk and Rawls - all family names. Considering calling her Annie OR depending on which middle name, might call her by her full name.

    I love Adeline!!
  • A boy will either be Isaac or Joseph, middle name Anthony (family tradition). Girl we're thinking either Isabelle or Caroline, middle name will be Margaret (after DH's grandma). DD is Evelyn Barbara (Barbara was my grandma's name).

    Willow

  • For a girl I'm set on Amelia (and I think I've got DH on board) with middle name possibilities being Rose, Claire or Louise. For a boy I like Luke with middle names being Ryan, Elliott, or Rowan. That's where we are at right now.

Love all these name choices ladies!

  • We've been check out names; we both have daughters so we are hoping for a boy. We used to joke if we had a baby boy we would name him Keldon half mine half his name. He's not so into the name but I love different names. Any opinions???
  • For a boy, we're pretty set on Edward. I love the nickname Ned.

For a girl, we're throwing around Blythe, Elisabeth, Agnes, Jeanette, and Catherine.

I always thought I would name my children something different. Like Ackin - it's the originating name of Jack and I've just always loved it. But now I almost like simple names more because they are becoming rare! That's how we settled on Ann for a girl's name. I've been looking at the .gov website that shows the popularity of babies' names for the past 100 years and it's so awesome to look at the trends and see where your likes and dislikes fall!

That being said, I still love the name Keldon. My cousin's name is Kell (boy) and I've always thought it was so cool! I also love how it has meaning. I'm huge on family names and that's a neat twist to the traditional family name.
