Goodbye Kitty :(

So in early last month DH took both cats in to the vet for their annual checkup. They said one cat's heart rate was escalated but that it could be because he was nervous. We didn't think anything of it until this afternoon when it looked like he was breathing very quickly but not panting. DH brought him into the vet and then rushed him into the emergency animal hospital because my 8 year old cat was experiencing heart failure.

We were told that he could live anywhere from 24-36 hours without medication.  With medication, maybe a month and $$.  We decided to put him down.  My heart hurts now.  He was our first baby (along with his brother).  This all happened too quickly and I couldn't even go and say goodbye because I'm stuck at home with strep throat and the baby.  If you will, please say a prayer for Piper tonight.  You would have liked him if you knew him.
