Ouch! Growing pains

I am a FTM and I am now 19 weeks + 3. I am having a lot of pains near my hip bones that wrap around to my back. I do not have a uti nor am I constipated. My doctor said it is normal, but mine seem to come at night and last allllll night long. It makes it so hard to get comfortable, sleep, and even move.

Anyone else experiencing this? I'm assuming it is just RLP because I am finally starting to show and my boy is getting much bigger. Anyone have any tips or advice on how to lessen the pain or deal with it better? I never thought RLP would be this painful. Thanks ladies!

Re: Ouch! Growing pains

  • Tylenol? Warm bath before bed? Rice socks? Massage or chiropractor? Is your mattress good and do you have a body pillow? Sorry. The aches and pains of pregnancy can be difficult to deal with :(

  • This happened when I had my son too. I was told that boys generally lay lower.. This causes your hips to spread and can be painful. I'm not sure if this is what really was happening but it made sense at the time. Unfortunately I really don't remember how long it lasted. I want to say a month or so. I was told to try soaking in a warmish bath and stretching could help. Nothing really worked for me though. Good luck.
  • Thanks ladies. I do the whole Tylenol/ warm shower/ massage routine, but it doesn't help much. Pregnancy pains blow! Good thing I love my little guy to pieces and will put up with it for him lol

  • I've had similar pain as well. I'm also a FTM and am also having a boy. I have started sleeping with a Snoogle and that has helped the hip/back pain a little bit.

  • I woke up with that exactly you today and I called my doc. She said its probably RLP but if it starts to come in waves or with bleeding/fluid then to head to the hospital because everyone in the practice is leaving tomorrow for a conference. Mine went away by mid day. I just found Tylenol and moving around helped.

  • Snoogle or body pillow have helped the pains in my hips and back immensely! I also take a tylenol pm when I have been on my feet all day and it helps me get comfortable enough to sleep pretty well through the night. Good luck!

  • I have the same problem at night. I lay on my side with a pillow and take a Unisom to eventually fall asleep. During the day the pains don't last long, so I just let it pass.
  • I've been getting lots of pain too at this point. All normal. Wish there was a better was to alleviate it

  • Sleep on your side with a pillow between your knees, you need to support your hips at night.

  • My Snoogle help a lot last night. It's usually just at the end of the day and getting up in the morning that are the most painful. Glad I'm not the only one though!

  • I thought the combination of snoogle & prenatal yoga had fixed the painful hip issues for me the other day, I had an awesome night sleep! Unfortunately it didn't last, I'm back to having pain in my hip while sleeping (which in turn makes my knee hurt). The prenatal yoga & snoogle has def lessened the pain somewhat tho. I'm having a boy & he does sit really low too.
