IVF baseline tests

I'll hop on Google and do a little research, but I pretty much hold all of your experiences/knowledge in high regard, so lay it on me! We are going to go au natural this cycle, but get the IVF baseline cd3 b/w and cd8 ultrasound outta the way. What types of results am I looking for, more so for the ultrasound - I'm guessing they're counting follicles, but how many should they see at that point? Am I making any sense?! Where's my coffee...

Yea, they count follicles, and B/W is just to check your Estradiol levels- then eventually they start checking your LH and Progesterone. Most people go EOD for b/w and u/s through the IVF cycles. I've heard of people having to go ED= torture

As far as how many they'll see- it'll vary. I've had months where I had 5 or so, then I've had months where there were more than 10 on each side. It doesn't really make a huge difference anyway, since it's just showing how many could potentially grow at that point, that doesn't mean all of them will produce eggs, you know? This IVF cycle I *think* I started with 12/12, then I ended up with 12 eggs on my left, and only 4 on my right.

Thanks @Mrs Castillo! So really one cd8 ultrasound isn't going to be a definite "this is how many eggs you'll get," but could raise any red flags if there are very few follicles? Based on my response to meds for IUIs I'm guessing I'll fall right in the average range. Those EOD b/w and u/s appts are for when you are actually stimming, etc, right?

Right it looks at follicle and gives them an idea of how many eggs you may have. Not every follicle grows and egg. And uhhh what does EOD stand for?

lol Every other day.

And yea Jen it's typically just EOD when you are stimming but it also depends on your protocol. For me doing the Long Lupron- I went like 2x before I started stimming, then EOD until retrieval but I only stimmed for like 10 days total, so it wasn't that bad.

So let me know if I'm answering or not but I had shots in the morning and at night. I went for blood work and ultrasounds every day usually in the morning. But it does depend on your protocol.

Wow, every day! Thankfully I have some awesome neighbor friends who I think will help me out watching my DDs during that.

@FreakyFast, I just noticed your siggy says "1 normal embie." I feel like I didn't know that, and honestly, I'm not sure what words to say

Jen071407 - Yes I went every day starting on day 4 of stims. My arm hurt from all the bloodwork. It was rough, but it was nice to know I was being watched so closely.

As far as my embies. I started out with 10 that were mature and 10 fertilized, then after the 5 day 2 had stopped growing and the 3rd one didn't have the right parts. So they pulled cells from the 7 we had and sent them for genetic testing. Out of that genetic testing only 1 was normal. The rest had trisomy. I would have probably miscarried most of those. So yes we only have one. It has been a hard to understand but I have put all my love and hope into our embie.

Oh man, how extra stressful for an already stressful situation. Although I bet all my money on your FET resulting in a BFP and that little embie growing into the perfect addition for your family :x
