I loved Stove Top as a kid. Later it was discovered that I have a gluten intolerance and I have tried a GF stuffing recipe every year since and haven't found one I really love.
We call it stuffing and it is not baked in the bird here. I butterfly my turkey so there's nowhere to put it. My Dad stuffs his.
Mine is usually cornbread, dried cranberries, prosciutto, apples, celery, onion, sage, parsley, butter and stock made from the backbone of the turkey. This year I'm going to add wild rice.
My Dad's is traditional sage bread stuffing with the usual suspects and for some reason he adds broccoli. I'm being really morbid and sad about it because we are stuck in DC for Thanksgiving and he's so sick that I worry it will be the last Thanksgiving with him.
I just learned this today. I'm with @nobadwriting. I heard Alton Brown on All things considered and he was very informative! I plan to follow his recipe for roasting the turkey. NO stuffing inside.

Also, another Alton Brown lover. He's probably my favorite Food Network star because he really has what it takes to be one. He was in school for acting. Then decided he wanted to study food science. Not just culinary, but the science behind it all. I love it!

I don't always use his recipes but I am seriously a better cook because of his techniques. There are too many non chefs on the FN now for my taste.
Re: Thanksgiving debate
Edit because I'm ridiculous.
Dressing is for salads.
Ours is very simple. It's bread, butter, onion, salt, pepper and an egg for binding.

I hated stuffing growing up and so when I started hosting Thanksgiving, I decided I had better find a recipe I liked.
My cornbread stuffing is amazing. It even has applewood smoked bacon in it.
We change it up every year to try new recipes. We're going with southwestern this year so cornbread, black beans, peppers and onions.
