I need opinions!

This is a weird/random question... If you had to get a 3-4 inch circle of hair shaved off the side of your head, would you rather have long or short hair? I have long hair now, but I'm having surgery and don't know if it will get in the way of my stitches, or if short hair would be better/worse. Any thoughts?

Thanks! It's not until early February, but I can't stop thinking about it. I wish it could be sooner so it could be over with faster. I have a tumor in my skull that they have to remove, so they'll have to take out part of my skull as well. Not a whole lot though. I love my long hair, but I don't want to be miserable with it.

I love my long hair but I think it would be alot to manage after surgery. I would probably go with the half shaved Willow Smith look in all seriousness.

Wow, first I am so sorry you are dealing with this and I hope everything goes well!

In regards to the hair, I would probably talk to the doctor about any concerns they have with you keeping long hair with infections and maintenance. They may have an opinion in the matter.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I asked the doctor about it and he didn't really have an opinion. I could probably cut it after, but I don't want to scare the salon. I was told I will have to be in the hospital a few days and will be in a lot of pain after, so I'd like to figure it out before surgery. I feel so vain for even worrying about my hair.

It's very normal to focus on the lesser details when faced with something as daunting as brain surgery! It's a way to cope. You will look amazing no matter what you decide. I've noticed that courage looks great on everyone.

where are you head are the stitches going to be?

I was in a bad car accident in college and had staples down the right side of my head- it started at my hairline and I was able to part my hair from a middle part to a side part to cover it- just a thought if you are weary about cutting your hair.

I like suggestions from other posters too- going short would be fun, if you never have or wearing wigs! I totally understand though- they had to go digging to remove my staples and tugged at a few hairs- but nothing too painful.

You are all amazing! Thank you so much for you help! My stitches will be above and behind my left ear. I think maybe going short may not be too bad. I've never had really short hair before and it might be nice.
