1st Trimester

Constant cramping!

I'm 5w3d and have continuous, nagging cramps. No bleeding & I'm sure it's normal but it's so annoying/uncomfortable!! When will it go away??

Re: Constant cramping!

  • What has your dr said? I had a little at first but im 8w 3d, and the only stomach pains i get now is from throwing up all day (sry ladies i kno its gross) but it could be your body adjusting. Is this your first pregnancy?

  • Cramping is pretty common throughout the first trimester. Some women have cramping through their entire pregnancy.

  • I cramped pretty badly through the first 6 weeks. I am 8 weeks now and haven't really felt any cramping for the last 2. I also had a very light amount of spotting between 4-6 weeks. Ultrasound at 6 weeks showed everything was fine and baby was not tubal, which was my concern.

  • I cramped from 4-8 weeks.

  • I had pretty much constant cramping from 4w to 8w ... now it comes and goes.

But everyone is different. As long as it's not severe, only on one side or there's bleeding with it, I wouldn't stress. It's annoying, but it's an indicator that things are still progressing.

  • I am 8 weeks 1 day and still have cramping...more often in the night, and sometimes it even wakes me up.  I have had 3 US in the last 3 weeks (we did IVF and they are just closely monitoring things), and everything looks great.  My MD said some women cramp through the entire pregnancy, so even though it's nerve wracking, try not to worry too much!
  • So are twinges cramping?  Cause I know what my period cramps are like.

  • My cramps were period like cramps. A few sharp pains here and there, and some stomach pains also, but mostly they just felt like period cramps. Like little army men were waging a war in my uterus.
  • I am cramping quite a bit this pregnancy. I just try and put my feet up when I can and stay hydrated as much as possible.
  • 13 weeks and I had some for a bit this morning. With all that's happening to your uterus, it would be weirder not to cramp.

  • I've been cramping also and like PPs have said this is normal. My cramps are similar to my period cramps but just little less intense. They still hurt and I have to breath through them but they only happen about 2-3 times a day. I wouldn't worry unless you start bleeding or the cramps have you doubled over. Take care!

  • I have the same thing and I'm about 5 weeks.  I wound up calling my doctor and he said light cramping is perfectly normal.  He did say if cramping became severe (we're talking stabbing pain, to quote him) to call your doctor immediately or go to the ER.
