LOs closing doors

Js room (along with all other bedrooms) is off of the living room. We've lived here for nearly a year, and I finally got the time to really get his room baby proofed. I unpacked more stuff, moved things around, etc.

The only issue I have is that he is obsessed with closing doors. I'm afraid hhe'll pinch his fingers, or lock himself in his room. I want something to put in the door to prevent it from closing. I went to walmart, target, and Walgreens today. Nothing!

Re: LOs closing doors

  • We got some of those foam door jam stoppers off of amazon. I think they are made by safety first. We had some clear plastic ones that could go on the open side or the hinge side. We has it on the hinge side to prevent smashed fingers and D was somehow able to get the door off of the hinges.

  • My step grandmother found a plastic door stop at Walmart. I'll have to ask her what section it was in.

  • Our DS is obsessed with closing doors as well. We can't even leave or door open to get fresh air in the house because he will come along and close it and smile at us like he did us a favor. Too cute! Unfortunately he learned early on that he has to get his fingers out of the way or he will get hurt. It didn't take long though.

  • Can you just use a rolled up t shirt tightly wedged under the door or something along those lines?
  • I took a pool noodle and cut a chunk off.  You can wrap that around part of the door where your LO can't touch it.  That way, DD can still partially close the door without really shutting herself in or pinching anything.

  • I drape towels over the inner corner of the door, they're nice and thick and it stops the door from closing and pinching fingers

    Awesome idea!
  • We have Mommy's Helper Panda Door Pinch Guard and highly recommend it. We bought ours at BBB. Very snug, but easy to take off for night and nap time. She loves shutting her door and there is no way she could pinch her fingers with this on.

  • We currently put two 10lb weights (ones that SO wraps around his ankles for jogging) on the floor in front of it.

The foam ones stay on the door well?
