Re: ~~**NURSERY TO-DO LIST CHECK-IN**~~

  • I am so behind! I currently have a contractor removing the popcorn ceiling from the entire second floor of my home.  Once he's done we can finally paint the ceiling and walls, assemble the furniture, and move the glider and ottoman up to the nursery.  I need to make curtains and the bed skirt, purchase and hang art, and organize all the other stuff.

  • Somehow I missed the first two of these posts, I'm glad I saw this one!

I have bought all major furniture:
    - Crib
    - Glider
    - Changing Table (Still yet to put up)

But I am yet to get:
    - Any decor (waiting for after shower in January)
    - Crib mattress
    - Crib sheets
    - Curtains and curtain rod

  • Oh man, I want to play, but I think I need to accomplish a few more things. The hardest part for me is deciding when I will transition my son out of his crib and into a big boy bed. We are reusing the crib and I want to make sure I do it early enough that he doesn't think we are giving his crib to his little sister. But, I just don't think he is ready quite yet either.

  • Well, we haven't gotten too much done yet (at least the chimney is gone!), but H is entering his "slow" season (once all the fall cleanups are done) so hopefully we'll get there sooner!  I'll be much happier if we (H) can get #1-4 done before LO arrives.  LO will be sleeping in our room for a few weeks at least, so if the painting/spackling doesn't happen until after LO's arrival, that should be okay.

I'll have to rededicate myself to #7 - it's pretty daunting...

    To Do:

        1.   Tear down chimney

    a.       patch roof

        2.   Knock down walls & create hallway directly to 4th bdrm

        3.   Create interior stair access to basement

        4.   Move litter box to basement and teach cats to use cat door

        5.   Clean 4th bdrm, spackle & repair walls

        6.   Decide if DSD will move into 4th bdrm or if that will be LO's room

        7.   Clean/sort guest room to

    a.       make room for baby stuff until nursery is ready

    b.      grandmother visits...

        8.   Replace/install flooring in LO's room (maybe hallway & DSD's room too)

        9.   Paint walls

    10.   Install closet organization system

    11.   Install black out shades

    12.   Wash and hang/fold all newborn and size 0-3 clothes, blankets, towels, etc.

    13.   Install hooks behind door for bath towels

    14.   Install video monitor? maybe not video...

    15.   Make room in garage/basement for stuff from guest room

    16.   Stock closet baskets and dresser with toiletries, diapers, etc

    17.   Purchase/acquire:

    a.       Crib (?nieces'...)

    b.      Dresser - one from childhood (3 drawer), will it be enough?

    c.       car seat & bases

    d.      stroller/travel system

    e.       storage cube bookshelf(ves?)

    f.        Rocking/swivel chair

    g.       changing table? (maybe just on top of dresser)

    h.       Hamper

    i.         Air purifier/humidifier

    j.        wall art

    k.      jump&go (have from sister)

    l.         bassinet (have from sister)

    m.     monitor

  • I need to get that list. Sigh. We've done nothing. NOTHING! The room is still stuffed with all sorts of random things. Including the crib from child number 1 (needs to be put together). Leftover baby clothes, husbands clothes, clothes we're not wearing at the moment, a hope chest, book shelf and more junk. So not motivated.

I never made a list but I was able to get quite a bit accomplished this weekend.

    - Cleaned out most of the junk
    - All baby furniture (crib, dresser, chair) is set up in the room
    - Washed and reassembled the wonder bumpers (this is a VERY time consuming process) and put them on the crib
    - Painted the roads on the wall
    - Designed vinyl wall cutouts
    - DH built the top portion of the twin bed frame
    - Washed all bedding
    - Finished canvas digital artwork for over the dresser

    TO DO:
    - Finish building twin bed
    - Put vinyl cutouts on wall
    - Put on bedding
    - Finish name sign
    - Put up canvas artwork
    - Sew a pillow cover
    - Buy lamp shade and trim
    - Purchase rug

  • Wow, I'm very impressed with all of your productivity!

I definitely did not participate in the last one because I had literally nothing done at that point. Now I've had my shower so a lot more is accomplished. I have a crib and glider. I ordered the dresser/changing table but it has not been delivered yet.

I still need to organize items in the dresser when they arrive, wash clothes when it gets closer, get curtains, put up decor and possibly buy a book shelf or at least figure out what I will do with my awesome box of books from my shower.

The scary thing is, it's my "baby-to do" list that really freaks me out.  It includes more items like figuring out maternity leave, comparing insurance to decide which family plan to do, day care, baby's doctor etc. Nursery stuff is a bit more fun!
