April 2014 Moms

Am I the only slacker?

I can't believe I am almost halfway there!  Meanwhile I have done nothing to prepare - no nursery plans, nothing has been registered for or purchased.  It was partially because we were waiting to find out whether it was a boy or girl, but now that we know that we are having a girl and I have all boy things from DS, I am in a panic that I have done nothing.  DS came 2 weeks early, so I may be more than halfway there already if this one follow suit.

So please tell me I am not the only slacker on the board!!!!

I was hoping that's what this post was about! I almost wrote a post very similar to this yesterday after reading the "how much have you spent?" thread. We haven't bought anything for DS. I got rid of DD's stuff because I wasn't entirely sure if I would be having another one and because I hate hoarding things, so we have nothing. No crib, no bottles, nothing. In fact, the only thing I have been motivated to buy is CD and I now have a total of four. I'm so glad I'm not the only one. We need to get our butts in gear! :)

  • Nope! You are not the only one! I'm almost halfway (18 weeks!) and our "nursery" is currently a junk room. We have maybe 7 items on our registry and one name picked out that we kinda, sorta like.

  • And I haven't really told anyone about our pregnancy yet either! That's how far behind we are! I am not showing yet (or, I am just a bit but can disguise it) and I have yet to tell my work.

  • I'm in the same boat. Made by first baby purchase yesterday, but nothing yet for the nursery. Nothing on the registry (I have no idea what I want; the types and amounts of products are a little overwhelming). I'm just trying to make it through Thanksgiving at this point!

  • I'm officially over the halfway hump, and I too have done nothing to prepare for this LO. You're not alone!

Our nursery is a fully furnished guest room, and our only guest room.  So I have to figure out what to do with all of that furniture and get it out of there before we can start filling it.

I know really we have plenty of time, but my motivation is so lacking these days I have a feeling I will be cramming it all in at the end!

  • Same here! Planning on starting after the holidays :)
  • I agree with these other ladies, no plans here yet either. We have a bottle in the house because it was in a free goodie bag from motherhood when I bought leggings the other day. DW did get a custom framed map she loved and we planned on putting it in the nursery but last night we decided to hang it in the living room so it didn't break and it looks great there so it may stay ha!
  • I also haven't really done anything yet. Our nursery is currently our guest bedroom. I decided on how I'd like the nursery to be decorated, but haven't started doing anything. I haven't registered yet either and DH and are still arguing about names....

  • You are not alone. I have NOTHING. Literally nothing and have done literally nothing :)

  • *sparky*, last minute nursery... me too, girl! :)

  • I purchased nothing for LO#1 until she was here. I got most everything we needed from the shower other than a nursery, but we moved at 36w, and she slept in a cradle in our room for a few months while the nursery took shape. You're fine.

I know it will be "fine" - just a moment of realization of holy crap I have done nothing yet.  I have all the basics from DS and can certainly get through, but really want to have things together before LO is born.

  • I, too, have absolutely nothing except for the bottle that came in the Motherhood goodie bag.  Two babies coming and not a thing to show for it.  We have a storage unit that is darn near filled to capacity, so I'm not sure where we will be putting the stuff that we are going to take out of the room that is slated to be the nursery.

  • I have NOTHING, haven't discussed names or bought anything and don't plan on it until after the holidays. Too bad our families and friends are in such a big rush to know info/buy things. They need to chill.
  • Nada here as well. I'm waiting until the a/s next week and then start purchasing things, but honestly probably won't buy much until January or February.

I have about 5 things on my registry that I'm not even sure about. We only started the registry because of the promotion BRU was running.

Our future nursery is currently a catch-all room that needs clearing out. We also have major construction planned for the room, gutting the ceiling and old paneling, creating two new closets, moving walls and the door, yikes! We plan to start the demo after thanksgiving and will hopefully have all of the framing and the new ceiling done before Christmas.
  • Have done zero to prepare for this baby! My A/S is next Monday so maybe after that I'll be more motivated to start getting the nursery together. I want to make it through the holidays before starting anything too crazy though! That's enough to worry about there haha.
  • We aren't prepared as far as purchases, but we have awhile! We actually won't buy any gear or large items until at least February. No need to store it all earlier. We'll set it all up by the end of march (due April 16) so we're ready, but will have it all purchased early enough that if baby comes earlier we have it. I'm just messing around with strollers and car seats today and my head is spinning.. and this is my third lol.

I was much more engaged with my 1st PG and definitely was so much farther along with planning at this point.  I think that is why I had my oh, crap moment today.

  • At least you have the basics from your first kid, I have nothing and I have done nothing. I bought a couple onesies because they were cute but that's it.

I feel like I have plenty of time, though, halfway through means I have another TWENTY weeks to go.

  • We haven't started either...waiting for the a/s this week. We already have big items and if we are having another boy, we are pretty set. If its a girl, I want to buy pretty girly stuff! There were a few things I had with DS that I didn't like and have given away so we will need those: swing (realized that we don't need anything fancy as DS hated it!), high chair (i just used the fisher price booster with DS and he still uses it) and carseat. I also would like to try the rnp, and slings/wraps this time around.
  • We have not done anything! The only thing that we have accomplished is picking out the names.  We have our A/S on Thursday and once that happens I think we will be more motivated.

  • We just primed the walls yesterday in the nursery. Waiting to paint it pink and lavender once we confirm the gender at our a/s tomorrow. So far all we have bought are $140 worth of baby girl clothes, headbands and socks and the paint for the nursery. Still haven't purchased any big ticket items like a crib, stroller or rocker.
  • We wont be registering, purchasing, or doing baby related things until the middle on January.

    Everyone Welcome!
  • I haven't done much yet. We need to put up a 4th wall to complete the bedroom and don't plan on even doing that until February! I do have a lot of stuff from DS that will be 2 in January, but even with DS I didn't buy anything and wouldn't let anyone else until after 24 weeks (age of viability). I was and am again high risk and especially with my first we didn't know how far along I would be able to carry LO and were very concerned about losing baby before viability.
  • I have done pretty much nothing, and I really don't know how much I will do before he's born. My husband has to go for military training for 6 weeks in May and we plan on moving the end of June. We might pack my house up at the end of April and I'll stay with my parents (10 hours away) for those 6 weeks. So no real need to do anything nursery related until we move into our new home in July. I have the basic things still from my DS, except bottles. I just feel like I should be doing stuff to be excited for baby..
  • we have a bassinet and 4 onsies - that is it!!! We don't have a registry because we don't do them in NZ - you have not idea how envious I am of you Americans!! Showers and Registry's must make life so much easier!!!!

I know at Christmas time we will be buying the bulk of what we will need, and I'm pretty sure that family will buy us some stuff. but other than planning for a MASSIVE shop at Christmas, Nope, nothing planned at all!

  • I have done nothing to prepare!!! i did get a crib yesterday but only because it was given to us for free by a friend. other than that i have done nothing :( I think i will try and register this weekend. we unfortunately are moving in august so i dont know how much sense it makes to set up a nursery in our house right now especially since  we will use a bassinet until we move. I am almost 18weeks so i feel like time is slipping away.

  • I had an OH SHIT moment today when catching up with an ex coworker who is due 4 weeks ahead of me. Her nursery is all painted and cute, she has her registry completed, name picked, plans all set for her shower, AKA, she has her shit together! I have done NOTHING! I felt like a total slacker but I feel a bit better knowing I am not the only one who has been procrastinating some things! I suppose with me losing my job I will have a lot more time on my hands over the next 20 weeks to get myself organized and start getting things ready for LOs arrival!

Our nursery is a junk room too!  The only thing we've done is painted the walls and hung a few pictures.  MIL gave us a few outfits already & it's overwhelming to me b/c we have nowhere to put them.

    Totally slacking.

  • We have nothing done yet but we are having another girl and I'm sure she won't be using her nursery until she is 3 months old so I'm not too worried.

  • I have started a registry but that's about it. Adding a crib and some sort of storage, whether it's a dresser or small changing table with shelves, to our existing guest room is going to be a challenge. One that I'm avoiding. Buying and deciding on the stuff is going to be the easy part. I'm just not even going to worry about it until next year.
