Well I knew it was coming soon as it's been borderline a few times. I dealt with this with my first pregnancy in the 3rd trimester and was diagnosed with pregnancy induced hypertension. My blood pressure at my appointment was 152/100 on Friday. They switched my doctor because for whatever reason and I had to see the doctor who delivered my son and he hadn't seen me since my son passed away in December. So anyway, long story short I have to do a 24 hour urine collection on Friday. Awesome.
I know we had a few ladies with bp issues. How are things going now?
Re: High blood pressure ladies - how's it going for you?
I have monthly appiontments with the hypertension center. They hook me up to the machine and it measures cardiac output and other useful stuff. I am usually in the box (yay) but can't be on my regular HBP meds (I have kidney disease) because of being a pregnant, so I am grateful everytime I am in the box.
I also have a 24 hour urine catch every month (mostly I believe because of the kidney thing though) If you haven't had one, it's really easy and not as gross as you imagine. If you have had one before, then lots of luck hope your numbers are good.
As far as getting really high measurements, my experience has been that they send me to L&D right away anytime this has happened. They don't even wait and take it another time. I have had to go to the hospital and they put me in a bed, gowned up and everything and start a NST which includes taking my BP every 5-10 minutes to see what it's really doing. On one they made me stay at the hospital for my 24 hour collection. Thats how I ended up with an induction at 35.5 weeks, though he cooked for another 5 days because he did not want to come out. So far I haven't had to be sent to the hospital for this pregnancy.
I am also dealing with left pulmonary artery stenosis which is a narrowing of the artery in the heart leading to the lungs. I'm sure that adds to it. This was picked up about 5 months after my first was born.
