  • Holy mess, I would've wanted to slap her.

On a side note, the decorations look adorable! I hope your sister had a good time!

Is soup cousin tacky enough to have a second baby shower? Cause I'm already excited for soup cousin 2: namcgee gets revenge in this saga.
Haha Soup Cousin swears she is one and done because her little one is a little more than a handful.  She is trying to beat me in passing gear down to my sister (ie: we both have the same baby bath tub, sister didn't get one at her shower, cousin was trying to push hers on her when I had already told her months ago that I am giving her mine.)

  • Is this soup the only thing that this cousin makes ?  Does she get a lot of compliments on it ?  Is this an ego thing for her ?  Unless your sister told her in private that she must bring the soup, I can't fathom a grown woman acting like this ?

No no no.  If she passes all her baby gear then she will have even more of an excuse to have another shower.

" Waaahhhhh, I don't have any baby stuff because I gave it all away.  Oh well, I guess that means I get to take advantage of my friend's and family's generosity and have another baby shower.  Then I can make even more soup."

No, for past family dinners she has brought deviled eggs (which is why I recommended those as something she could bring if she must bring something).  My sister would've been happy with anything we did, even if it was just punch and cake and nuts, I know she was not the soup instigator.  My sister threw me an awesome rubber ducky shower, though (rubber ducky shaped egg salad sandwiches, duckies floating in the punch, rubber duckies as favors...), so I wanted to go all out for her, too.  Soup Cousin will also be the baby's aunt since she is married to my sister's husband's younger brother, so I am expecting her to try to "out aunt" me.

All of us older cousins have been good role models and not had second showers.  I am the oldest and the two cousins between her and me in age also have 2 kids and didn't have second showers (even the cousin who had a girl and a boy, imagine!)  So she would look all the worse for it if she dared try.

  • @namcgee You are a saint! I honestly
can't believe the store thought $10 would be a compromise for that sandwich mess. You should have had them for free! All the snafus aside, shower looked lovely and I bet your sis didn't notice the problems!

No kidding, it was $150 worth of sandwiches!!  Thanks!

  • Dear lord that's a lot to deal with! And this is the exact reason I told my mother that we shouldn't involve anyone else while we plan my sisters shower. And also why I insisted we have it at a country club. So that the food is already taken care of and no one can get their feelings hurt if we turn down their offer to help. The shower looked lovely though! You did an amazing job. Congratulations to your sister and congratulations on having survived the encounter with soup cousin. :)
