Theme (nursery or otherwise)

What theme (if any) are you doing for your LO? With DD we did giraffes, with DS we did pirates, and for this DD, we're doing owls. I've bought a baby book with owls and a sleeper from value village and they're both owls! Part of my craft projects will be primarily owls. Our travel system will also have owls.

What are you all doing for your babies?

  • Hubby loves basketball (played all through high school) and cars. So, either sports or cars.
  • We're doing a Winnie the Pooh theme, gender neutral so the next baby can share with this little guy.
  • For a girl, we will do simple white and gold and pink touches. For a boy, there is a large USA 4 piece plank artwork that I want to get to focus on. I'll add some blue and green touches from there with simple white bedding.
  • A jungle theme for our boy/girl twins.

  • We're doing a woodland theme, boy or girl. Using grey and white, plus a little color in some felt pictures I sewed. We also have a white tree sticker for the wall to go over dark grey paint. We live in a small 80 year old farm house so the baby will have two walls in our small master. Ha! The only other room is our office and its way too drafty. It's freezing in there in the winter. Can't wait to get started!

  • Ours is green and brown mostly - and i have gotten on a monkey kick lately because on baby stuff they are so cute! So we are adding monkeys to it too - we are team green so its neutral.
The walls are 2 shades of green striped and then we have dark wood and brown accents.
  • Subtle elephant theme for either boy or girl. I don't care about themes that much, which is why I'm just going to add subtle touches here and there.

  • Woodland theme here too-that seems quite popular! Gray walls and bedding with pops of sage green.
  • I think we're doing pink, green and turquoise. There's a ton of cute bird and owl stuff in those colors so something like that will probably end up being the theme.

  • We just bought pale pink paint and a light lavender paint for our DD's nursery. We are having a white chair rail installed and we are going to out the pink paint on the top portion if the walls and the lavender paint in the bottom. Also having a petite crystal chandelier installed. My Mom wants to make her crib bedding and already purchased the fabric for it. She said its white with a little bit of lavender and pink in it. It also has ballerinas on the print. I haven't seen the fabric yet and i am a terrified that I am going to hate it....I guess our theme is kinda French/ballerina theme.
  • Teddy bear aviator- we fell in love with it the first time we saw it. My grandfather worked on planes in WW 2 and DH' s brothers are into RC planes, so it does have meaning for us. My mom will be making a quilt, and if I have the energy I would like to maybe do some cross-stitch.

  • We're doing forest/woods. Green and brown for the colors - a whimsical tree decal with owls. Childlike pictures of foxes, wolves, owls, etc. Not too busy/over the top.

I'm not huge on overt themes, but this little guy's room will be a grayish blue color with Nantucket red touches. The bedding on the queen bed that will remain in the nursery is being switched to duvet with blue railroad ticking on it. The only crib bedding we're doing is a sheet that has these tiny winged dogs with red glasses flying through clouds printed on it. Then I have a few folk art prints of dogs doing human things (playing a guitar, drinking coffee, etc).

So I suppose you could say there is a very sublet dog theme going on.

  • We are going with a music theme for our baby boy. Currently we are leaning toward navy and citron green because it matches this colorful rug with electric guitars on it that we found for a great price. The bedding will be mostly solid with a printed sheet (stripped) in coordinating colors. Wall art will be a mix of hung guitars my husband doesn't use, baby nursery music prints (classic D is for drum sorta stuff), vintage albums in coordinating colors framed, and an interesting repurposed record art piece.
  • We decided to do grey chevron with yellow. I don't really like animal themes, so until this kid is old enough to have a say we're just going with colors.

Still searching for the way we'd like to paint. I'd love to do a chevron accent wall but DH isn't sold.
  • Star Wars - boy or girl.  This nursery is the only thing DH has ever been excited to plan.  :)

Star Wars will be the theme for our son. Doing lots of art and etsy purchases to get it right. Going to use stars/galaxy/grays/blues/aqua to fill in the gaps, like bedding, window covering etc.
have you girls seen the star wars themed bedding and room accessories at pottery barn kids??
  • If LO is a boy then I want to do car/ train theme. If it's a girl I'm thinking about reusing DD's nursery things. (Elephants and ladybugs). Anyone have a bad experience with their older kids and jealousy if they reuse stuff?

  • Our baby girls nursery is our huge open walk-in closet. We are reusing our green teddy bear bedding with a new white crib, antique white dresser, and refinishing our old changing table to white.  I would love to get a glider and am looking at some sort of wall decal instead of refinishing a slightly damaged wall (maybe a tree). I plan to repurpose our mobile by replacing the jungle animals with small teddy bears.  I've ordered a new valance for the window and would love to find a used or clearance small throw rug for the floor.  I plan to hang the crib quilt from the set on the wall and also have a framed picture and flat stuffed teddy bear that came with our set to hang.
  • Ours will be a whale/nautical theme for our little boy with different shades blue, white, and hints of red here and there.
  • Giraffes! We painted yellow and the giraffe stuff is primary colored. We are team green and plan to use the stuff again for future babies.
  • If it's a girl I will be doing a white and cream with gold accents with a touch of sparkle

If it's a boy I plan on a luxury lodge feel. Creams, furs (not real of course), subte deer, moose accents

We find out in 7 days!!! :)
  • We're going for an earthy rustic woodland theme. I found some awesome Katie Daisy prints to incorporate! I'm not really into characters but plan on using deer sillouhettes and maybe a few other cute forest type critters-

  • We aren't too into themes but we're planning on gray/ice blue/white colors for a boy with outer space/Doctor Who accents and coral/aqua/light pink colors for a girl.

    We find out TOMORROW!!
  • Ours is a beach theme (since we are currently in Hawaii). Here's a picture of what we've done so far (we had to start early since My husband is deploying). We still have a long ways to go, but at least we have the furniture assembled.

  • We are doing a vintage/rustic/antique floral design with shades of maroon, pink, light blue, and light green!
