Re: Would you smoke pot if it was legal?

  • @lauraT25 I am in WA as well and even though it is "legal" there is no legal way to obtain it so you still run the risk of getting caught doing something illegal. Also the whole job security thing is huge. I don't know if I know of any jobs that have changed their stance on drug testing since it was voted legal.

  • I chose maybe, but it would have to be in an edible form.

  • Yes I would on occasion. I'd rather smoke than drink.

I am a no.  Not my thing.  At the end of my wild days, in my early 20s, I started getting major paranoia every time I did it.  It sucked.  Never again.

  • I'm a SS because I'm nursing, so not right now. But once done, definitely.

I said yes but I am too.

And my answer is more yes occasionally than regularly.

I'd rather smoke than drink as well. Less calories and all the giggles.

Less calories until the munchies hit. Nothing tastes more delicious than food while high...or so I've heard.
I eat just as much with booze munchies, though; just different types of food. Greasy burger and fries are the best drunk food. Hardee's, specifically.

I don't think that will change until it is legal on a federal level.  It's still illegal on a federal level and federal law trumps state law.

  • I also don't puke while high. I have done my fair share of post-drinking puking.

  • Yup. Would probably rather eat it though, since smoking hurts my lungs.

  • Hell. Yes. My current job doesn't drug test, though.

  • I don't like to drink, but I would love to be able to smoke pot. We don't so it now because of our jobs, but I'm just waiting for the day I can put LO to bed and get a little high with DH legally.

  • Nope, I do not enjoy it at all. I'm much more of an upper sort of girl.

  • Hell, I was doing it in college even while illegal ;)
  • I'm so all over that if they ever legalize it in Iowa..bring on the pot brownies!

  • I can't stand the smell and my ex was a pothead/dealer so no I probably wouldn't ever smoke it.

  • I've never tried it because of the legality and would try it if it was legal.

You can legally buy it with a prescription... but all the rules keep getting all blurred while they try to figure out the recreational guidelines.

  • Before DS, probably.  Now, no because I don't want to have him see me smoking.

  • I have never tried it, but I would if it was legal. I want to see how it affects my medical conditions and pain levels. If it worked, I'd have to decide between smoking or keeping my narcotics script unless they change the drug testing guidelines too here.

  • I remember discussing my situation with mom a few years ago which was a big mistake. She looked at me like I had just told I set up a meth lab in the nursery. Anyone that has been on narcotics long term knows the possible effects it has on the digestive system I fail to see how regulated doses or marijuana could be any worse. Of course she thought I was a horrible person that should have my kids taken away for even mentioning that I would try it if it was legal.

  • I used to smoke weed with my mom.

  • I wouldn't. But I have zero issue with anyone who does, and I am all for legalization.
  • I can't do the smoking thing, I hack up a lung. I would totally try it in edible form though.

Me neither. And I don't think anyone is smoking in front of their kids. I'm not sure if that was a passive aggressive comment or not @zeptattoo
  • I've had massive hangovers when I smoked and drank but nothing on weed alone. A weed hangover seems weird. Don't people smoke pot to get over their hangovers?

    It helps my hangovers.
  • I was always in a daze for days from pot. I count that as a hangover. Booze hangovers only lead to a daze for hours.

I miss having hangovers that lasted only a few hours. Now they last for two fucking days.

I have had the WORST hangovers post drunk, and they have most certainly lasted more than a few hours. They're days worth these days.

  • No, just because I don't like how fuzzy-headed it makes me feel.

I think that the criminalization of pot (and all drugs, honestly) is dumb and wrong. But also, Jesus help me if it does become legal, because my husband will be all over that shit, and stoned people are annoying as fuck unless you are also stoned.
  • I agree that heroin, etc. are a whole other kettle of fish. Criminalizing just exacerbates the problem, though. It should be treated as a public health issue, not a criminal one. And at the end of the day, I think grown ups should have the right to decide what they want to put into their bodies.

It wasn't meant to be passive-aggressive.  I have family who smoke cigarettes in front of their kids (although only one smokes inside where they live) and I can see if pot was legal that they would do the same if they smoked a joint.  That's where I'm coming from with that comment.
