u sit down at your desk at work, hook up everything and yourself to your pump, got on your hands-free pump, ready to go, start pumping, open up your lunch and...

you have no fork.

but it's across the room in that cabinet.

  • You leave everything set up and just unplug the tubes, right (assuming you use a medela pump)? It took me a while to figure that out...

Pp, I've also had the bottle pop off BC I didn't screw it in straight. That was early on and sooo upsetting.

  • Yesterday I hooked everything up to pump and the suction was so low. I started freaking out (my pump is older). Turns out I forgot to put the little membrane thing on. It was in bag I was soooo relieved! #:-S

i'm afraid of doing that someday! but like, leaving the membrane at home, since i always take it off to wash it each night, and the bottle drying rack is white. i feel like on one sleepy night i might forget to put it on. for that reason i packed my extra membranes in my bag and they live there.

i already had plenty of times when i forgot to put the membrane on when using the hand pump at home. i'd think, oh no my pump isn't working!!! whew~
  • Ugh, I started keeping some plastic forks in the cabinet near where I pump just for that reason. I thought about keeping one in my pump bag. Too many lunches using wheat thins to scoop up pasta...
that is the most obvious solution to prevent this from happening, as it's happened multiples times to me already... =P prego brain has not gone away.
  • Exactly all of this!!! Horrible feeling in your stomach when you forget a vital part of your pump. I've forgotten the plug, bottles, bags and ice packs before. Mommy life is hectic!

You realize you forgot your bottle caps, membranes, nursing pads, your whole pump, or forgot to put your milk in the fridge. Yup all of those have happened to me.

  • I've forgotten the bottle lids more than once and forgotten to put the milk in the fridge... ugh.
