I have no intention of ever buying from second hand consignment/thrift stores. Grosses me out and I prefer everything for lo to be brand new. And it's not just consignment, because I didn't even accept a jumper from a close friend. I know things can be wiped down but still, no thank you.
This totally reminds me of Teresa from RHONJ when she said it was gross to live in a used house. You know that toys in the store get handled and even slobbered on too right? And I'm sure the distribution process in the toy and clothing industry is super clean.
And new clothes, too. They are handled and treated with all kinds of stuff before they make it into stores.
I would 1000x prefer a second hand piece of quality clothing or toy than a cheap new one made with essentially slave labor in China. A lot of new clothing is covered in flame retardants that are horrible for your children so the more times something has been washed the safer it will be.
This. Plus, I'm really freaking cheap - especially when it comes to something we'll use for a matter of months. Almost everything my kids own/wear is from consignment or hand me downs!
"I wanted you more than you'll ever know, so I sent love to follow wherever you go."
Maybe it's the marketer in me...but most of these seem like brand preference not being "snobby". I mean for those who were talking about TP do you not wipe when not at home And your brand is not available?
My uncle brings a suitcase with nothing but his favorite toilet paper on every trip he takes. He also keeps some in his car. I guess he is a true "snob". :-)
Gotta be Pepsi products, hate coke or no name. Has to be the good toilet paper. I definitely bring it when travelling...am tempted to bring some to work too but would feel weird bringing a roll into the bathroom with me. Also since pregnancy I just cannot sleep on a bad bed. I visted my family while pregnant and I cried it was so bad. I cringe at the thought of going back but feel like a bit of a snob because their bed 'isn't good enough'..
I'm late to the party, but definitely restaurants (non-chain places all the way!), beer (I lived in Germany for a while and I can't drink crappy beer), pads/tampons (brand name stuff works better), and ice cream (I'd rather have one spoon of Ben and Jerry's than a gallon of some cut-rate can of corn syrup--even Breyer's has ruined many of its flavors).
