January 2014 Moms

Crafters weekend check-in & AW

I have nothing yet to show, but thought someone might.

I do have projects my mom and I are working on---- new foam pads for used glider (free glider), new covers, finishing burp cloths, nursing cover, and hopefully a crib skirt.

Also, covering my drafty windows with plastic. Classy.

AW away, ladies!

  • I love the name picture, @nicnique. Very nice!
  • Thanks @peanutmuse :)

Your taggie blankets look great! I wanted to make some but I haven't gotten around to it. That minky fabric is my favorite. I love your neck warmers too! You are talented, lady!

@peanutmuse. Love the neckwarmers!!! And the baby stuff!!
  • @peanutmuse Holy cow! Your baby is adorable! ;)

I need a neck warmer. You always keep this thread alive by posting tomorrow! That is why it is a weekend check in. Also, as usual, love all your projects.

@Nicnique love the garland! We did something like that to rope off an area form our wedding.

@Arrgcr I smiled because my bump photo bombs me, too. Glad I'm not the only one. I really like that blue color.

  • @Shannahbee, the blanket is beautiful, but I absolutely adore the hat.

@ChuggingWater -- if I finish more projects, I will definitely keep the thread alive. I'm one of the odd balls who doesn't sort by most recent post, so I'll just have to go back to find it. :)
  • @peanutmuse you are a crafting rock star!

  • @peanutmuse you are a crafting rock star!
@thegosiers, the fact that I'm mostly stuck at home and bored out of my mind helps get the projects flowing. :)
  • @tarajeannette -- Thanks, lady! The bottom one is my favorite one so far too. I'm definitely making more like that one.
  • @peanutmuse @tarajeannette
    Thank-you ladies!
@vstevens one and the same! It was a super easy pattern!

  • You ladies are so good! I WILL get going on some of my projects this weekend; I haven't done anything since the nursery curtains and changing pad cover. Maybe I'll start with burp cloths this afternoon.

  • @Shannahbee-- could you tell me where that blanket pattern is from? I saw something but wasn't sure how I would find it. Is it pretty easy? I can knit and purl and that's about all I got!

@megs12914 It is free pattern on Ravelry - https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pine-forest-baby-blanket It is definitely easy, I would even say it's good for beginners. The only two stitches other than knit & purl are 'SSK' (slip-slip-knit) and 'K2tog' (knit 2 together)... Both are really easy and youtube has a ton of quick videos that demonstrate those particular stitches if you're not sure how to do them! Also, the pattern suggests doing 9 ridges of garter stitch for the border (ie. knit 18 rows), even though the pattern author didn't do that many - definitely take her advice, the border wouldn't be even otherwise!

  • I am in awe of everyone's projects! I'm STILL trying to knit my toddler a Christmas stocking from last fall.... It's not going well, but this thread has inspired me to finish it up.

  • Does it count if it's not baby related?

    I made these today:

A gift for my friends son who will be one next week and a housewarming gift for my good friend. I'm also making one for myself!

I have more Christmas gift crafts I want to do, and some for my kids but they will have to wait until next weekend.

  • I've been crocheting at work now since it's our slow season and have made about 8 different hats this week alone. These are my favorite from the ones I made. Ninja Turtles for the little man. I am working on a fox ear flap hat right how for him that should be finished in the next day or so.

My son LOVES TMNT. Those r adorable.
  • Wow, you all are so talented!! I loved looking through all the photos :)

I have been very slowly working on refurbishing a dresser for DD's big girl room. Hopefully I should have it finished before DS gets here!

  • I want a sewing machine!

I will be making two large letter "H"s out of wine corks for my MIL and my dad for Xmas gifts. I also have a ton of burlap that I want to use for something, just haven't decided yet. I'm feeling like a lot of the people on my list will be getting home made gifts this year, I need to make room in my craft box!

@Peanutmuse -- You need to switch the way you sort your posts!  Although, after this long, why would you?

@ChuggingWater -- Every once in a while, I'll try it for a few days. But I always hate it and end up switching back.

Looks like you had a busy weekend. Nice work, lady! In a few hours, I'm going to post the full set of burp cloths. Just need to finish them up and work on dinner somewhere in there too, ha.

  • @BMReid , I just used a long left over strip from what was left from the cushion fabric.   Clipped it to the frame.  LAZY.

  • I'm still trying to finish the blanket I started knitting for my LO in July. I'm not even half done yet. :(
It's a simple pattern but it's on tiny needles so I might never finish.

  • I finished a hat for DS2, started a hat for DS1, then DH made me sort through my yarn...and I got a lap blanket started to donate and another one's colors picked out...

*sigh* and since I went through my yarn, I found more that I had forgotten about, so I have some yarn to figure out what to do for myself, and yarn yarn everywhere...

Sorry for no pictures, I'll probably do a catch-up at some point. Oh, and I picked out the color for DD's hat.
