I told DH I was going to take a "quick shower" and would be right back. Then, I snuck a glass of wine in the bathroom with me and took my sweet time, and even painted my toe nails. I kept the fan on the entire time so I couldn't hear if he or LO were having trouble.

The fan is a great idea. The last time I took a hot bath with a glass of wine I could hear everything my fiancé was saying while interacting with LO. All was fine and dandy until I heard him start going, "One...two...THREEEEE! One...two...THREEEE!!" I panicked and ran to make sure he wasn't tossing him into the air. Bath time over.

  • I just had a Midnight Milkyway for breakfast after two cookies.

I am using my MIL for day care until my day care provider is available (about two). I have no plans on ever letting her watch my son after this time period. I only feel safe with her watching him right now because I know she doesn't drink during the day. She keeps trying to buy stuff for my son to keep at her house and I was telling her don't waste her money. She even said she would buy laundry detergent to keep at their house for when he spends the night. He will never spend the night at her house. When I think about it I feel bad that I am using her for child care (really I feel bad that I don't feel bad). The only thing I feel bad about is that she is getting more time with him than I am.

I went to the grocery store Sunday night and took LO with me. She started getting fussy for a bit while in the store so I took her restraints off in the car seat and she calmed down and I was able to finish shopping. These carts are tall and they go past my chest so her seat was pretty high. She was good for the rest of the shopping. While we were in the checkout line, I snuggled her in her blanket and zipped up her car seat cover, loaded up the groceries and went home. When I got home and went to take her out, I noticed I forgot to put LO back in her restraints! I'm thinking to myself thank god I got home safely and thank god nothing happened to LO. I didn't tell DH because I didn't want him to look down on me, yell at me, not trust me, and think of me of less than a mother. I feel so terrible because I do feel like less of a mother for forgetting.
OMG, I did the EXACT same thing! When I went to get him out of the car, he was kind of slumped over to the side, which I thought was weird. Then I remembered that I didn't buckle him back in! And I had to drive on the highway to get home. I felt so guilty, but relieved that he was ok. I have never told anyone, not even my husband.

  • I don't always jump to attention when my baby cries when someone is holding him. I know he is ok, and it is kind of a break for me. The person holding him always gives him back pretty quickly, but I would be fine if they tried to get him to chill out.
This is not including my husband.

  • Sometimes when my LO is crying I mock her. Not when she's legit upset but when she's being whiny for no real good reason.

I do too. My son gets this seriously cute frown going before he cries and follows it up with a meh cry. He just looks and sounds so cute I need to mimic him.

One time I imitated my son's grunting and it scared him. He started crying and everything. It made me sad, but it was also really hilarious.

I have been taking full advantage of the whole "don't worry about cleaning your house, just take care of that baby" mentality. Our house is a mess right now and I just don't care. I guess since baby girl is 8 weeks old today I may have to get with the program soon!

Also, I havent sent any thank you notes for gifts we've received since she's been born. I am hoping people will cut me some slack on that :\">

Eta: I am going to send thank you notes eventually... hoping to write some this weekend.

  • @HBirdie I used to loooove Spaghetti-O's!!! Now I'm totally craving them. :)

I love to bake but I really should stop because I have no self-control right now. I made an apple pie and ate 3/4 of it myself. The shameful thing is that I got mad at DH when he had a piece. I could have eaten the whole thing.

This just happened to us the other day. We went to dinner with friends so I unbuckled DS so he was comfortable in his seat while we ate dinner. Of course during the chaos of hugs and kisses goodbye to everyone both DH and I forgot to rebuckle him. I was sooooo upset when we got home!!! I irrationally blamed DH since he was the one who actually put him back into the car.

  • I'm in a destination wedding and we leave on the 26th of this month. The bride is trying to organize excursions for the group and wedding party and I'm secretly enjoying that I can use LO as an excuse to get out of them. I normally enjoy excursions but its been a long year and I really just want to relax for the week.

  • My confession is, DH has been taking older DS to school in the mornings because I've been up with LO throughout the night. LO has been sleeping much better lately and I'm fully rested and capable of taking DS to school, but I don't. I still milk it and pretend that I'm soo tired so DH will continue to get up. I just love lying in bed with LO when its just the two of us.
  • H's great Aunt passed away just before DS #2 was born and the memorial is next week.  It's a 12 hour drive away.  I made up the excuse that I can't afford to take more time off work and I didn't want the kids stuck in the car that long, which is partially true, but mainly because our relationship is in serious trouble right now and I think some time apart would be good.  Plus, he invited MIL to ride with us and the last thing we need is crazycakes breathing down our necks and getting into our business.  So, I will be staying home with all three kids while he's gone for 4 days.  Which leads to number 2...

Lately, I often wish that he would just go away.  He's always pissy when he comes home from work and it just drags the entire family into a crappy mood.  We pretty much just ignore each other to keep from fighting in front of the kids, which is the opposite of a healthy marriage.  After the kids went to bed last night, I tried to sit down and talk. After 2 minutes of attempting a conversation, H just says "It's all my fault.  Whatever."  If it wasn't so late and such a pain in the ass, I would have packed the kids up and left.  Not for good and I have no idea where I would have gone, but just for a break.  I think we are at our breaking point, and I'm not sure what else to do.

And, I apologize this is such a downer.  I just needed to vent more than anything since I have no one to talk to about this.

DH and I went through something similar during the end of my pregnancy. Things are not perfect but they're much better and we're actually friends again. I'm not sure exactly how we finally got over the hump. I just wanted to tell you that I wish you the best and I hope everything works out for you, however its supposed to. I felt compelled to share with you because often times it helps to know someone else has been there- internet stranger or not. :-)
  • DH and I are going out together for the first time since LO has arrived. I'm less anxious about leaving dd, and more about coming back. I don't want the break from mommy duties to come to an end just in time for fussy time.

  • I have a third one. I started work on Monday and didn't find time to buy clothes that fit my current stature. I have worn leggings twice this week, a pair of fat pants khakis that didn't for me pre pregnancy, and maternity pants. X_X I am going shopping tonight to try to find pants that fit my big butt

  • Went to walgreens today to pick up my birth control. And I went out without a bra or underwear on. In my husbands sweatpants and his hoodie. Oh well at least I was comfy

  • I have another... I've spent the last several days posting up in our rocking recliner in my pjs with LO in my arms watching homeland and not doing much else productive.

Also, For anyone else that watches homeland, the character Dana sucks ass. I can't stand her. :-q

We sometimes put pants on Auli's head when she cries during diaper changes and then mimic her.  We're... aweful.  But she'd better get used to it.  We're going to tease her her whole life.

  • Every morning when DH leaves for work, I put LO in our bed. It's the best and longest sleep that we get.

I've also done the carseat thing. She started getting fussy in the store and it completely slipped my mind that I un-did the straps. I felt horrible when we got home and I realized she wasn't buckled in. Mom fail.

A few of my friends have a girls night out planned for tomorrow night. I'm seriously considering not going just because I feel like it will take time away from DH. I have no problem having time away from LO, as I spend all day and night with her, but these days time with DH is so valuable.
  • I have another as well. Every time certain members of my husband's family hold my son (cough gross BIL cough), I secretly pray he'll start crying so I can take him back. It's terrible that I want him to fuss, but I hate letting them hold him!

I do the same. It started because LO had gas pains and I'd put him on my chest. I enjoy our morning nap and I think he expects it now because he won't stay asleep in his bassinett past about 8am...

It cracks me up to see LO get hungry and start to root around. I usually give it 30 seconds before I respond just to enjoy his antics. He often looks like a punk rocker headbanging
I watch DD do that, too. She starts out on my left shoulder and slowly wiggles her way down to on top of my right boob. Then she starts opening her mouth really wide over my shirt. The whole time she's wiggling her way down, I know exactly what she's going for, but I still ask her, "So what are you doing there? Where are you going?"

  • LO and I love bath time even though it is a lot of work for me because we don't have space and the baby tub on top of the sink/counter is awkward. So even though I'm always super careful about the way I hold him, he does this slump and slide thing. He's bumped his head on the edge of the tub. Twice. I told DH and he doesn't judge. That's why I love him. :)
  • I have another one: my in laws are coming over for a visit tomorrow (because we are trying to be nice and not restrict access to our daughter even though MIL is being extra crazy right now). We haven't heard much from in laws all week which is unusual, and makes me think MIL is still going to be playing the victim tomorrow. Part of me wants MIL to say something inappropriate so I will have a good excuse to give her a piece of my mind and to tell her to get over herself. I know that's really immature but I can't help feeling that way.

I hope all of you with your LO's in the shopping cart are putting their seat in the big basket and not on top of the toddler seat. They can fall off, even if it seems secure. Most manuals specifically say not to do that, as do all the shopping carts I've ever seen.

    Anyways.

My confession is that I'm starting WW on Sunday so I'm spending the weekend pigging out beforehand. I've been eating pretty much whatever I want since I stopped having HG around 16 weeks. I'm 8 lbs below my pre-preg weight, but I still have 50 lbs I need to lose.
Mine won't fit in the seat part. I admit I tried it to see if it would since I've seen others at the grocery store with their carseats in that part. I have the Chicco KeyFit 30 and it only fits (more) securely in the big part of the cart. I've only used the cart at the grocery store. Other places, I just take in the stroller. I have learned how to fit stuff in around her and use the bottom part of the cart a lot more. One of the checkout ladies also showed me how you can hang the bags on the cart and not have to put them inside the cart when you leave.

How do you hang the bags? That would be helpful.
