S12 gift/ornament/holiday exchange

Okay so I know 2 other posts were made about this, and it seems like there are a lot of people who would love to participate! I will organize and set everyone up with a gift partner and anything else that needs done. Since we haven't decided what exactly we will be gifting, would it be too broad to just say a general holiday themed gift (chocolates, decor, favorite coffee, gift card, etc)? We can set a price limit, and give just a little something. I mean who doesn't like receiving a present in the mail? People can say 'we don't celebrate X so I'd rather not receive an ornament, or fruit cake, or whatever (But seriously no one send fruitcake) and I will include that information when I match people up? If you guys think it'd be easier to pick just one or two things to exchange, please let me know. I just figured we could include as many people as possible if it was a 'here's a little something to bring you some cheer'.

So I don't' miss anyone, if it isn't too much trouble, please PM me if you'd like to be included (even if you've already mentioned it in a previous post). This will likely be a P&R because we still don't have internet and I am currently hijacking my in laws, but need to leave soon. If everyone who would like to participate could message me by the end of the week, I can have the list out sometime next week which should give everyone plenty of time to pick up their thing(s)--whatever we decided them to be--and get them on their way! I think someone originally suggested trying to have everything in the mail by December 10th?

If I am missing anything, please fill in the blanks! I will try to check back at some point later today. Have a great Tuesday everyone!!

jess, use elfster.
@tonir319 yes at the top right go to the menu then click forums and there is a link togo to inbox. to send jess a message just click on her name and it will bring you to her profile where you can send a message

This was going to be my suggestion.... Way easier. Maybe LL could pin a thread for the time being where we each say if we are cool with ornament or not. If yes to an ornament we could PIP our trees?

I don't see the big deal with leaving it open. Honestly I'd be annoyed if I couldn't participate because the majority decided to do something secular and I didn't celebrate.

I think that we should set the price limit and then leave it open. When you get paired up, you could chat and decide what you wanted to exchange. I'm perfectly ok with someone sending me some chocolate!!

I think we should use Elfster. More private and I like the anonymous factor until the reveal (gift received).

$10 price limit before shipping is my suggestion.

Maybe just have the convo with the person you've been matched with through Elfster? That worked for the book exchange.

Agreed on Elfster & then you can ask anonymous questions. Worked well for book exchange and most of us are already signed up then!

It's not about me, it's about shopping for the other person. I enjoying shopping for something I think someone would really like. I guess I just don't see the point of this if people say I want a $10 Starbucks GC. As opposed to picking something special for a person, like if i sent you this:

I also totally get that not everyone puts a tree up and/or celebrates Christmas and I know I am just being whiny for no reason. [Welcome to my husbands life.] Since I am the only one who seems to care and I am not obligated to participate I will stop complaining.

Elfster was my plan-- you ladies are all so smart!

I think $10 before shipping seems reasonable, anyone have any issue with that amount?? I have a list started, and will probably put another reminder up near the end of the week just to catch any people this may have missed!

I did get it bunkin, we are STILL sans internet until tomorrow, so I haven't been super active. I told H I needed some stuff in town and have been sitting at Barnes and noble catching up here. Hopefully our internet will be back up tomorrow!

I have set up the exchange on elfster and if you've given me your email, you should receive an invitation. Here is a link to the exchange as well, where you can add yourself to the list. If you'd rather, you can send me your email and I will add you also. I'll post this once more in a couple days just to catch people that may have missed this! So far we have 32 people signed up, so that's pretty exciting!
