Help me make important life decisions.

So about two months ago I ran out of contact lenses. Since I've been a major slacker in getting new ones I've been wearing glasses. Tomorrow is my eye appointment and I'm unsure whether I should get contacts or switch to glasses permanently. Since im horrible at making decisions help me decide what to do. Bonus points if you link pictures of glasses that would suit the shape of my face if that's what you choose.

  • I am in the process of this same decision and I think I am going with glasses.  I have no idea what shape your face is so I am no help there.

Ridiculously bad. Anything beyond a two foot distance is blurry.

  • I like oval-y ones lately. You could probably get away with black frames though. I don't think I could stick things in my eye on the regular. I have glasses that I wear for driving.

I would get the contacts then. I find my vision is better corrected by contacts. I would order a bunch of contacts this year and use them sparingly and then get new glasses next year. I am assuming that your insurance pays for either or once a calendar year?
  • sounds like your vision is as bad as mine. i'd be miserable w/o having contacts (working out & the beach for example.) i actually didn't have glasses for years until DS was born & i knew i'd need to see in the middle of the night. i'll never go again w/o having both.
  • I loved having contacts, but about 10 years ago became unable to wear them.  I never found a pair that worked and over the years it became what seemed an unnecessary expense.  I now only wear glasses.  My eyes are happier and it's cheaper.  That said, if I still played sports, I would totally get a few pairs of contacts to wear during practices or games.  Otherwise, glasses and I do well.  I vote glasses :)
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

I wear both (I'm blind as a bat otherwise). I wear contacts more when we go out, at the movies, and when the weather is nice. I have two pairs of glasses to wear otherwise.

Can you afford to do both? If you can, that's what I would do.

Technically I could but our new plan year begins in march so ill probably get one now and one then instead of paying full price for one.

  • I had to have both when I wore glasses, but then I had surgery. It seriously changed my life because since I have asthma I was developing an allergy to my contacts (asthmatics are prone to allergies).
I never wanted to give up my contacts, though. I'm vane.
I would get the glasses now and the contacts later, though.

  • I vote for contacts now & glasses later.  I used to wear contacts & on days I would wear just glasses I felt weird & the glasses made my face greasy.  I had Lasik 10 years ago & it is amazing!

  • I'm also blind as a bat. I just had to make this decision, but it was easy for me. I NEED my contacts. I do want to get some fun glasses soon though. I just found out we have a good chunk of money in our HSA so I'm going to Coatco to find a pair.

I wear contacts 95% of the time. My glasses always end up feeling so heavy on my face.
