Good helmet "check-up"

Maddie has only been in her helmet full time for a little over 6 weeks. We had one of her follow up visits and another scan this morning and the specialist is super happy with her numbers. If she was a little older (developmentally a little further along) he would let us take it off!! But he wants her to be able to sit-up on her own after falling over and be scooting or crawling at least a little before we are "discharged". He also said that since she's still so young, the longer we leave her in it, the more time we give to "train" her head how to grow. But since her numbers are so good, we don't have to go back for 3 weeks and we might get it off then!! If not, the visit after that should be our last and 95% chance she'll be out of it before Christmas!!!

Re: Good helmet "check-up"

  • He wants her to have more movement so she doesn't plop back on her back and have her now cute little round head revert back to being flat.

  • Yay! Amazing news! I don't know if you had anything in mind for "graduating" but we're going to build a bear and buying a bear for the bears to wear the helmet once they're done. Part of celebrating and the helmets are just too cute to store away in a tote ;P

    Ooh - good idea, thanks!!

  • That's awesome! I mean, your baby makes helmet wearing look completely adorable (yours too Jordyn!), but I'm glad she's improving and can hopefully be out by Christmas!
