Re: Helpful info on PP hormones

  • Another hormone related thing no one warned me about... Night sweats. Crazy, change the sheets, soaked to the bone, strip down night sweats. Only after a couple nights if wth, did I find out that's totally normal.

Add to this list all that hair you haven't been shedding suddenly falling out making you think you're going bald! Lol. I had this a bit even with my miscarriage because I made it to 12 weeks and it scared the crap out of me.

  • Yep! I remember looking down at my puffy Nelly and bursting out in tears because it was looking better? My parents were here so my mom just smiled and handed me some wine.

  • Yes, the hormones were really hard on me. I remember being so exhausted and crying so much. My Mom was staying with us and she even tucked me in one night, since I was such an emotional wreck.

  • This scares me.  Being that I struggle with depression, I'm kind of just assuming that I will have a hard time with all the emotions after LO is here.

I think knowing and being aware that things will be hard for a small time after delivering is really important. It will help us and our OH's put things into perspective when we think things are the end of the world or that its postnatal depression when it may not be. Just keep an eye on yourself xx

Sorry to hear that @mightymousy xx
  • I'm very worried about this! Being pregnant actually made me feel more centered and way less crazy than normal. I really worry about being crazy or worse yet have postpartum depression after the baby is born.

  • I think the most important thing to remember is to talk about what you are feeling.  I remember having a hard time after DD and felt like a bad mother for the things I was thinking which were completely normal.  I felt like DD and DH would be better off if I left them alone and just went away for awhile.  I just felt completely unprepared for being a mother and finally one day my mom just looked at me and said everything out loud I was feeling.  It was just a relief to realize I wasn't crazy.  Everyone talks about the joys of having a newborn and rarely to you hear about the uncertainty and "blue" feelings that can come over you.

  • This was me to a T!  I kept telling everyone I was fine and putting on a smile when I didn't feel that way at all.  Great advice!

Yes!  Clumps and clumps at a time.  But I didn't experience that until about 4 months PP.

  • Thank you for sharing :-) A few of my friends warned me about this... I guess I'm a little scared of baby blues or PPD. Hoping DH will understand and be supportive rather than making me crazier LOL
