7mo. hard to put back down after MOTN Feeding

Our LO (along with many others I'm sure) loves to go though sleep phases.  For a while he'll sleep well and make us think he's getting close to STTN and then BAM he's back getting up 2-3 times a night.  Well, this time not only is he up 2-3 times, but he just wants to sleep on me and therefore is so hard to put him back down.  I'll be up with him for an hour and a half+ before actually getting him down again - only for another wake up 30-60 minutes later - and repeat!  I'm a full time working mom and dad travels a quite often, making me one tired momma.  He eats plenty (3 solid meals a day, along with morning, evening and before-bed nursing and three 6oz. bottles of BM at daycare).  I believe he is just a hungry boy though... he actively nurses on the MOTN feeding, but I would think at this point one MOTN feeding should do it and I have no objections there... just wishing I could get him back down quicker.

Perhaps its teething.  For those mom's who are experiencing teething, did your LO's come off as insecure?  That's the feeling I'm getting considering he'll sleep on my shoulder but wakes up the second he hits his mattress... maybe the pain just increases the need for TLC.

Thanks for any input.  :)  Happy Friday!

  • We're in the same boat. It can take 1-2 hrs to get him back down. I figure it's just a phase & he'll eventually get over it
  • Loading the player...
  • My lol gets up once a night and takes an hour...usually two to go back down.
  • Thank you for the input.  I also figure its just another phase he'll hopefully grow out of sooner rather than later. Good luck with your LO's as well.

  • Omg I'm with u..only wants to b held..I put her down she cries second I pick he up her eyes close I put her down she cries and so on...takes about an hour to get her down..then up an hr later! She already has two teeth no signs of new ones so I don't think its that
  • my son wakes up sporadically in the middle of the night (7 months) and i put the lights on low to change his diaper first, then feed, and he usually cries for about 30 seconds when i put him down, but is out by the time i'm back in bed. once he's done feeding do you put him back down, and give him a few minutes to settle? he may wail for a minute or two and then surprise you by passing right out.

  • There's also a separation anxiety phase which I think makes sleep more difficult. My 7 mo has been sick with a cold this past week, and after her first waking, she pretty much sleeps latched onto me for the rest of the night. I try to slip her a pacifier, and she wakes up screaming like I'm trying to kill her. We bed share after her first waking, and it's the only way I'm able to function in the morning.

Yup, this is pretty much us. Sometimes I can get him to go back down by most of the time it's nurse all night and bed share. Sucks for me, hubby sleeps through it-as usual.

I should definitely give this a try from the get go.  I usually end up doing just this after being up for an hour or two because I just hit my wall and need sleep.  This very well may be the case.  TY!  :)
