Wine!!! If I develop GD again, this list will get much longer.
What do they have you cut out when you have GD?
I had to really watch my balance of carbs and protein. Couldn't eat many sweets. Normally I don't drink juice, but I'd been having some early on to break up the monotony of water. Had to watch my fruit intake too.
Alcohol, cheese (feta, brie), and especially SUSHI! I love my sushi. DH and I had plans for a sushi dinner last Friday and I got my BFP on Wednesday. *sigh*
Why would you cut out feta or brie? As long as it's pasteurized, you're good to go.
I will be missing sleeping on my stomach and getting through the night without having to pee.
Caffeine. I know I can have a little but I worked night shift last night and couldn't hsve my 24 oz diet pepsi and 3 cups of coffee. I thought I was dying. Lol
Sooo...not to burst your bubble, but #4 and #5 should have little asterisks next to them. Technically you can eat this stuff if it's fully cooked, but if it's raw in any way (like, smoked salmon, lox-style) it's dangerous because of potential parasites. Just sayin'.
And actually, #15 is true! If you sleep on your left side, the baby gets more blood flow because of the way the arterial system is set up. But it doesn't make a difference, clinically. And, incidentally, I'm sure we've all noticed that back-sleeping once the bump gets big makes us dizzy or whatever. That's cuz it compresses the aorta! Bad news bears.

***************************************** I just make sure to eat sushi from reputable restaurants. If you are concerned definitely ask them about their food preparation and precautions they take.

Ughhh bubble is burst I'm just trying to find SOMETHING that tells me I can eat sushi. I didn't read all the way down. Now I see I shouldve cuz I know back sleeping is bad cuz it compresses the aorta...so that would've tipped me off. Annoying!
Margaritas. Sleeping on my stomach. Acrylic nails. (I read they are very bad to have filled when pregnant because of the fumes. Just painted over them until they grow out.)
I will miss raw sushi, turkey sandwiches, and being able to drink an unlimited supply of coffee. I have to be at work by 7am every morning and I usually run 4-5 miles before work so coffee is a BIG part of my day. I will also miss my speed workouts. I ran through my last pregnancy and plan to do the same this time but I never did hard workouts, just easy runs.
Actually, I must have the black hole of a belly button because I still kind of had one at the end.
ETA: Thank you, this thread is keeping me busy at work
My belly button never popped out. DH was so thankful because outies freak him out.
I'll miss my belly button too....I once had a black hole and the first
time I saw the bottom of it I cried! :P After 3 babies I still have a
belly button (innie) but I can see the bottom now.
I will also miss what little sleep I get now. *sigh*
Buuuut on the upside! A baby to hold!!! Yay!!
L-R: Liam (7), Eimhin (6) and Fionn (4)! (Irish names) Too busy to update the pics for now ...
Sushi, soda, and smoking! Bad about the last one, I know, but I love an occasional cigarette on the weekend and have been craving since I got pregnant even though I don't usually smoke on a daily basis. I also miss eating salads at restaurants. Midwife advised me not to eat raw veggies outside of the house so I'm having to find healthy alternatives when we eat out which is hard!
Will also miss working out hard. Nothing beats a sweaty workout that makes your heart race!
