Thanks Captain Serious! I am always scared I will offend someone but I guess that is just life.
Mindaa- the pic is actually a picture from a trip to Israel like 10 years ago, not work related. The SN is because my degrees are in horticulture and I work with soils a lot. I wish I was exploring caves for work instead of a lab and greenhouse!
I am Heather. I've been more of a lurker the last year as I had to take a break from adoption to take care of ill parents. We are back in the process and about to get our first placement as pre-adoptive parents. This will be a straight adoption case. She is 3 and he is 2.

Hi! I was srmmm09 and lost my password (and kind of my email?), so here I am, MrsMuenich! DH and I have a bio son, E, who's 2.5. We set out almost 2 years ago to adopt from Uganda, but our program there has ground to a halt (we were put on the waiting list last year on Oct 1st and #18; by January we were #13, and now we're #11... so yeah).
We started looking for waiting children to adopt and identified a little girl ~8mos younger than DS in DRC - Congo - and are trying to adopt her. The DRC is no longer issuing exit visas to adopted children (so we could adopt her but not bring her home), but we're pressing forward in a somewhat-founded hope that they will lift the suspension either by the time we could travel or shortly thereafter.
I kind of left the board for a bit when the adoption was stalled and it was so dang depressing, but I'm charging through it now like a big dumb bull because I don't even care who sees my emotions anymore. *shrug* I just want my kids in my house, is all.
I am a newbie here and really just getting started in my process. I also do not have fertility issues and really want to adopt. Every child deserves a chance at an amazing life and I think we can provide that or at least try our best. I have 2 bio kids that are 5 and 16 months old. I am in the reading and question phase now and hope to start the paperwork for a home study in 2014.
I'm Jenn. My husband and I adopted our sweet little girl E in March of 2011 through Domestic Infant Adoption. We had a private identified adoption through an attorney.
I suffer from infertility - we thought it was PCOS, but my endocronoligist (NOT RE, just a regular endo) says I am not textbook PCOS based on my LH/Testosterone levels.
We did not pursue IF treatment and don't intend to. We go back and forth about adopting again but I don't know that we'd do DIA, more likely IA, but that even seems like a far fetch scheme anymore (and I'm not even referring to $$$ wise).
We have an open adoption with my daughter's birth mother, her birth father is in jail for a very long time.
Hi! I'm Melissa. I mostly lurk on here, but figured I would reintro myself :-) I was born with Turner's Syndrome. Its a genetic disorder where I only have one X chromosome... and a big part of it is that my ovaries aren't developed, so I don't produce eggs.
I've known about it since I was little. And while we could have used a donor egg, I just never really felt the strong desire to be pregnant and give birth. so we decided to jump right into adoption.
We adopted our son from Korea about 15 months ago (in August 2012). He turns 3 years old on SAturday, and is the absolute light of our lives and the biggest joy!!! we loved our agency and the Korea program... so if anyone is looking into IA, feel free to PM me :-)
Well, I'm very late in the game here and definitely don't belong on the veterans list since I have just discovered this board but thug if go ahead and introduce myself.
After TTC for two years, DH and I decided to foster. We were open to adopting but just wanted to be a family for children who didn't have one while we were waiting to see if we would have any bio children. We got our foster license 6 months later in April 2011 and after doing respite a while took our first placement in November 2011. A 16 month girl and her 27 month brother. We agreed to be a permanent placement and after two years of ups and downs, the BM recently signed her rights over and we are now in the adoption process!! We are so thankful!
Also, in May we had a bio baby boy...SHOCK!! It's been a little hectic over here to say the least but I wouldn't trade a moment!
Really looking forward to getting to know you all better!
Techinically, I'm a vet Been around off/on for years and years. And I'm back!
We have one bio daughter, age nine. B/G twins adopted domestically as infants, now six yrs old. We adopted our littlest from Ukraine and she is almost three. We are now starting the foster/adopt process- whole new ball game!
