I stopped cold turkey when I found out I was pregnant and I was surprised I didn't have any side effects, aside from being so tired. I have had a cold for the past week and have been feeling so lousy, missed two days of work and staying home again today. I went to my favorite coffee shop to treat myself and forgot to tell them decaf. No wonder I feel GREAT right now. I'm going to drink this cappuccino but then I'll go back to decaf or herbal tea. I do love my coffee. I'm just giving it up because I'm older (39) and don't want to add to any risks or give myself anything else to worry/stress about.
I still drink my morning cup. I usually have a coke a day but have switched to caffeine free. It tastes exactly the same. But I'd still have a regular caffeinated drink if I was out somewhere. Moderation!
Funny update to this post--turns out coffee is one of my BIGGEST aversions! I can't stomach the thought of drinking it. How ironic? Haha. Substituting with the occasional iced tea here and there, but nooo thanks to the cup o' joe.
I actually stopped drinking coffee and soda a long time ago. Sometimes I like to have a small cup of coffee but since I don't drink it anymore it just isn't the same, its strange. Same thing goes for coke, it upsets my stomach now.
I do enjoy drinking a cup of tea with a little honey a few times a week though
I also heard that 200mg or less is perfectly fine. I'm limiting myself to one can of Diet Coke a day (only 80mg). I figure if I drink a lot of water the rest of the day then I won't crave it as much (and I'll provide lots of fluids for my little one).
I have been having one k-cup a day, actually less because DH usually takes a big gulp because he is super overprotective. I completely cut out diet coke. I wonder about tea though. I have been trying to drink tea when I am craving coffee, but I also heard some tea isn't good during pregnancy. Do you ladies know anything about this?
Some tea is safe and some isn't. Check with ur dr. Last preg, I had decaf Lipton tea allllll the time. Raspberry leaf is really good for preg but I think u start that in the second or third tri

I'm keeping my coffee... I titrated down to 2 cups a day (I usually drink 4+ most days), and am hoping to get down to one cup at some point. At least I don't drink the "dark sodas" so I don't need to cut those out!! I'm still debating whether real sugar is better or worse than using splenda and it seems like people go back and forth in that.
