1st Trimester

Feel like Death

Headache that Tylenol isn't touching. Nausea like I haven't had before. Crying in bed from the discomfort and pain. My MW told me this was the period when hormones peaked. Is anyone else going through this?

Re: Feel like Death

  • That time was pretty miserable for me. People say you forget. I didn't. Ugh. Just try to sleep as much as you can and ride it out. It started feeling a million times better once I hit about 11 weeks or so. I know everyone is different, but expect some light at the end of the tunnel.

And, if you haven't already, try Sea Bands. I think I wore mine for 3 months straight. I took them off to shower and immediately put them right back on.

  • I Got sea bands and wore them allllll the time but my nausea has went away unless I don't sleep enough.. I'm at 7 weeks.. I def have bawling jags though! And last week I felt like death too! How many weeks along are u?
  • Yes.. This sucked. I had to get zofran because I felt like I was dying and pretty much nothing helped. I second the Tylenol and caffeine, coke and Pepsi usually took the edge off the nausea when I was on zofran. Now that I feel better, I didn't forget about it but I'm crazy enough to go through it one or two more times, what's wrong with me?! I hope you start feeling better soon!

  • Pepsi did make the Tylenol more effective. But a short period later and I can feel it coming back. I think the nausea is so rough because I haven't really had anything severe before now. I'm 9w3d. I just tried to choke down a half a piece of bread and it was awful.

  • Yeah, bread was always gross to me because it was room temp. That sounds weird but I was able to deal with cold food better. Popsicles, frozen fruit, yogurt, etc.

  • And I just had my first inaugural pregnancy vomit.

  • My tongue is officially raw from preggie pops... I have been having a little trouble with water the last few days. Before pregnancy, it was really the only thing I drank. (besides alcohol). iv never been a big soda, juice, or tea fan. But I just am having a really hard time getting enough in. Gatorade and sprite are much easier. Im stuck between too much sugar or dehydration. : /

  • If Hogwarts' nurses were real, pregnancy would be so much easier.

If things are still rough tomorrow, I think I'll call their answering service. I just don't know when it's normal and I'm being whiny vs. this is not good.

  • I got really sick in my 9th week too. I was sick around week 6-7 and then it relaxed and came back hard week 9 through 10. Nothing helped me. Not even eating immediately because it was really hard to swallow anything without wanting to gag. I did try sucking on a lemon the other days and ever since then I have felt just great. Like GM said, Idk if it was caffeine related but carbonated drinks helped sooth my stomach just enough for me to eat! Jolly ranchers helped a little too and saltine crackers worked sometimes

Same here. Cereal was always easy for me since it was cold with the milk

  • I have had issues like that since week 5. When it got so bad to the point that I was in so much pain and nausea that I couldn't eat or drink for more than a day, I ended up at the ER. The big thing to look out for is dehydration and if it is that bad, just go to the ER.

If you can't function, you are not being whiny.
  • Oh I forgot to add that I also took Emtrol. I can't tell you for sure if it helped though. I usually did whatever I could to feel better so it could have been a number of things.

  • With DS i would have a little coffee in the morning and it would tone down my MS a lot. But with this one nothing helped but time :( around 11-12 weeks i was feeling better. Hang in there!

  • @BabyGavinNov10th, your kiddo is adorbz. And I love his name.

My husband and I are co-hosting an early Thanksgiving-type meal tonight with friends. I couldn't have timed it worse.

  • Jolly Ranchers help me a lot with my nausea!! It hard for me to choke down food too but the candy helps take the discomfort away from the nausea, for the most part. Urs hard for me to stay hydrated (Idk if that's an issue for u or not) but I froze some Gatorade in an ice cube tray amd munching on those helps with nausea and hydration. Good luck!!! A lot of people have been recommending ginger too!!
  •  I wonder if you aren't getting a stomach bug. It kind of sounds like it. Anyhow, I'll third (fourth or fifth lol) the tylenol with caffiene,  And whatever you can choke down that appeals. Keep an eye on your urine output, if it gets scant and dark, you could be getting dehydrated.

You're not being whiny! This is tough to deal with! I hope you feel better quickly, and I'd just cancel dinner tonight-people will understand. Good luck!
  • I'm in the same situation feel horrendous. Since about 6 weeks just kept getting worse I'm now 10 weeks and yesterday spent the day crying. Can't take the headaches and MS. I've tried the sea bands, caffeine, jolly ranchers, ginger candy, mints and a prescription nothing seems to help. My friends keep telling me take 1 day at a time and I will be ok in 2nd trimester. I'm so scared this is here til the end.

I hope you find some sort of relief.
  • Last night did Tylenol + Pepsi. Then Unisom. Woke up feeling better, but like the return is imminent. Stomach isn't quite settled, but headache is at least at bay. Fingers crossed for another okay day.
