No morning sickness - should I worry?

I'm 5w3d pregnant today and have not felt a bit of morning sickness yet. While I've always told friends who worry about this that they should count themselves lucky, this is my first pregnancy and I'm now a hypocrite because I'm starting to worry if the pregnancy is viable. I'm 27, very fit and healthy, and no prior history of miscarriage. Had my first prenatal visit last week and saw the embryo via ultrasound and DH and I will go back to hear the heartbeat in 2.5 weeks - don't know if I can wait!

From all the research I've done, I know morning sickness differs from woman to woman and should not be taken as a definitive sign of anything, but I just wanted to ask everyone when they started feeling sick or whether they had healthy pregnancies without ever feeling sick?

Thanks, M

Re: No morning sickness - should I worry?

  • That's reassuring, thank you! Hope I'm "that girl" too (even though instead of glow these days, I've had a major breakout!). I've read that it always differs and trying not to worry, but not succeeding haha! Good luck with your pregnancy x

I had zero morning sickness with my son and he is happy and healthy! As You say, count yourself lucky! Also most ms starts week 6 or later so it could still arrive ;)
Haha if it does, I guess I will have to consider it a price to pay for reassurance. Glad to hear your son is healthy and happy. Are you expecting #2 now?

  • Yup # 2 due July 5th so I am 6 weeks now and no ms yet! We shall see...;) but I get wanting reassurance, the early days are hard to wait out!

  • I too, had zero morning sickness with my daughter. I completely understand your nervousness about its absence. Everyone always says to people that are sick, "it's a sign of a healthy baby" Well, ummmm, what about me and my baby? Are we healthy? lol I totally get it.

I'm hoping for a repeat performance of no morning sickness, and so far so good. I did read that the peak timeframe is 6-10 weeks though, so we should be finding out any day now.

  • My morning sickness didn't start til I was 7 weeks in with my daughter. Unfortunately it also lasted until I was 16 weeks....so I had lots of reassurance!!!

  • With my first, it didn't hit me until 9 weeks exactly and when it did I was very very sick. There's still time ;)

  • I am 5w6d and nothing, no nausea or vomiting...just exhaustion and sore boobs...my doctor said, when I so eloquently asked her "when does the barfing start?" (I have also lost about half of my social graces) "wait a few weeks, it's too early"....so I am enjoying my puke free existence for now :-\"

  • I'm 6 weeks 2 days and still no m/s. Fingers crossed it misses me!
  • I'm nausea free but have crazy fatigue and tenderness starting to develop in my boobs
  • I am about 7wks and no ms... And im gunna "psych" myself into the idea that i just wont have ms at all. I have felt tummy aches and dizziness but im hoping thats as far as it goes.
  • I'm almost 7 weeks and no morning sickness yet either! It is weird when everyone asks how are you feeling any morning sickness but I guess that means we are lucky and hopefully it'll stay away!
  • I just hit 6 weeks yesterday and it basically punched me in the stomach with nausea. Didn't have any nausea previously so the 6 week mark was my magic number, I guess. Every pregnancy is different so try not to worry (I know that's nearly impossible).

  • I haven't had any ms yet either, but am dreading it.
I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with it at the office.  I'm praying it misses me.
