So, this is sort of a f/u to the post from earlier when people were talking about how much they get from the breasts when pumping.
Right now I just switched from pumping after nearly every feeding, to pumping only 3 times or so a day (because DD finally hit birthweight and I can just give her the other boob instead of supplementing with BM).
When I pump I only get about 2-3 ounces total. 3 is really good and pretty rare.
Will my supply increase with time? Or do I need to be trying to increase it? I started taking Fenugreek, but thats the extent of my additional effort.
Suggestions? TIA!
Re: Will my BM supply get better with time??
I could only get 1-2 ounces between feedings when I first started pumping. Over time, it's increased as I've gotten used to the pump. I occasionally give him formula and pump during that feeding and get 6-7 ounces, but when I pump between feedings it's usually only 3-4.
Unless you have an oversupply, your body is not going to produce a ton more than DC needs. I just pumped and stored what I could, and gradually it has added up.
I'll never be one of the 10oz-ers, though.
