Big Boy Bed, tips?

in Toddlers: 24 Months+
DS is 27 months and we are transitioning to a big boy bed from a crib. (Twin sz)
We recently moved and have actually been in a pack n' play for the past 3 months and now that we're settled we're ready to move him to the bed. 

He's excited so that's promising.
Tonight will be the first night, any tips?

    We kept our routine the same....  didn't make a big deal out of it.  They both got to pick out their sheets, but that was about it!  Easy!

    We have a gate at the door (and still do).  Not only does it help DS understand that he needs to stay in bed, but I don't worry that he may be wandering the house all hours of the night while I'm sleeping.

    We started out just putting the mattresses on the floor, and then about a month later, put the actual frame up.

    Also, for the first couple of months, we sat bedside every night he needed reassurance until he fell asleep.

    A little delayed, but thats for the tips! Hes doing great so far by keeping routine and getting him excited about new big biy bed! The gate is interesting thought as Im sure he'll figure out soon enough he can get out and wander around... guessing hed wander into our room first though!
