Diarrhea help

What do you do for your LO's diarrhea? DS doesn't have any other symptoms of being sick- just the poops. He won't eat a plain banana, but I made him a smoothie and he drank it. I'm trying to keep him hydrated. What else can I do? And I'm thinking he needs to stay home from daycare tomorrow, yes?

Re: Diarrhea help

  • BRAT diet - Bananas, rice, apples, toast.  Lots of water.  Cheese is constipating and yogurt is good for digestive health.  Going back to daycare really depends on your daycare policy.  Our provider would allow him to come to daycare and usually doesn't send him home if he has one runny poop at daycare.

  • I give LO lots of yogurt when she has diarrhea.  Yogurt is a great source of probiotics which can help ease the digestive tract. I also tend to put a little pedialyte in her water just to make sure she is staying hydrated.  I hope your LO feels better soon.
  • Thanks for the help girls! He pooped this morning before daycare and it looked to be a little more normal, so I sent him.
