It depends. Everyone is a different size and baby is different size so you'll probably get a lot of different answers. For me 7/10x I was extremely uncomfortable.
Other than the shots to the cervix, it didn't usually hurt. But as they get bigger and start stretching, that would hurt. I was constantly pushing feet out of my ribs or my side.
Never hurt unless like others said he was jamming the ribs

I personally wouldn't say hurts. There are times that I get a kick or punch to the diaphragm that feels like it's choking me. A kick to the bladder or cervix feels like an electric jolt. Otherwise, kicks are mostly just pleasant. Sometimes the baby is flipping around or something and moving my insides all around and that can be a very odd feeling.
I'm not sure what's causing it this time around, and I'm thinking it's my C-section scar/scar tissue - but I get more pain and soreness down by my pubic bone than I remember with the other two, and I wonder if the baby is hitting that scar area.
Mine haven't hurt so much as they've felt weird and a little jarring. I'm 20 weeks and baby is sitting low, so a lot of what I feel is like a light scraping sensation at the top of my cervix. Those sensations are so weird and abrupt that I do get startled. I also get what feels like a little rumble and some pressure when baby moves. I never felt what some described as a nice butterfly flutter.
3 early losses in 2013, but so thankful that our first baby boy is due 3/29/14!
I'd say 99.9% of the time it doesn't hurt and I'd even go as far as saying it feels kinda good. It hasn't hurt at all yet but with DS toward the end sometimes I felt like he'd poke my cervix or something and that kinda hurt.

yeah no butterflies for me either. I say it feels more like a fish squirming.
