  • All the Christmas posts are annoying. Get your child what they NEED, I highly doubt anyone's lo is yet telling them what they want......

GAh I TOTALLY agree! They're gonna be 5 months old max. They don't know their nose from their ear. My family are going to buy all the ridiculous unnecessary stuff anyway! LO will be getting socks and onesies from Santa!

This makes me sad that you think you have to be abnormally thin to look good in a bikini.
I can tell you for a fact, ain't nobody wanna see me wear a bikini that digs into my fat like a piece of dental floss! But that's not the point I just don't think they are particularly flattering, that's all!

  • I think huge bday parties for a 1 year old aren't worth the trouble. The kid won't even remember it.

I kind of regret the huge party I threw for DS1 for his first. It was fun, but way more than he needed or probably wanted.

Agreed. Our babies are not even old enough to do anything with their presents except sit next to them and look cute.

  • I just started drinking Mothers Milk tea this week... I like the way it tastes.

Is that a UO? Lol. I think it tastes good with milk and honey. :)

My UO: I only liked the first hangover movie. I thought the others were dumb.

While I agree with this on a logical plane, DH and I used the opportunity to get DD toys she can use for the upcoming year. We love Christmas, so we did this in large part for ourselves. We freely admit this. However, we're also in the position of having a lot of what she needs because friends, family, coworkers, and students were so very generous at our showers (we had 5 when all was said and done. We only knew about 1 of them in advance). We didn't buy many toys, so it's good to get her some stuff now.

My OU: I sort of hope that this will be the last season of Bones. I like the show, don't get me wrong, but the writing hasn't been as good as it was and I really think the show is, for the most part, going downhill. I have so many tv shows I like to watch, I could really use one less on the list.

I threw that shit for me!
I think too many people use being a ftm as an excuse to post stupid (usually repeated) questions/threads that could be easily answered by googling. Do your own research. Being a ftm is not an excuse to not be informed. Many of us are ftm.
I am happily surprised at how much more posters are educated and informed this time around than when I was active during my pregnancy/right after having DD. No one researched a damn thing back then. And probably for that reason the national boards were significantly busier then than now.

  • I can't stand Miley Cyrus.  I think she's a spoiled, self-centered attention whore that needs to be put in time out until she can stop wagging her tongue at anything that walks.  There.  I said it.
Pretty sure this is the popular opinion. Whoever would like her is out of their mind.

I'm with @BelhurstBride. I threw that party for me! We had margaritas and all of our friends came.. it was awesome. We threw a big 2nd party too. But this year, not so much.. just a group of his friends meeting at the park and having cupcakes. I'm sure he'd enjoy it this year, but we just have too much going on.
  • I hate the whole Christmas gift-giving thing.  We don't generally buy holiday gifts for people and I do not expect people to buy gifts for me. When they do, I am mildly annoyed because then I feel obligated to get something for them as well, and we just really don't do the whole big Christmas shopping thing. There are people I know who buy gifts for EVERYONE and we just keep it simple. Now that we have a toddler, I enjoy getting him some things and watching him open them but that's about it.

My UO I love Black Friday shopping!! My mom, sis, and me have been doing it since I was 12. It's like the start of Christmas. It's tradition. We get up early, drink coffee, listen to Xmas music, shop, and eat brunch. I know the deals are the same and I know it's crowded but it's our fun. I always take Black Friday off work. People I know think we are crazy.
As a retail employee this is so unpopular with me. It is so frustrating to not be able to enjoy thanksgiving with my family so that other people can save $100 off a tv. Also, the people looking for deals tends to be the biggest assholes to the employees. People will say "then you shouldn't work retail" but it isn't always that simple.
I agree with this.  I think it's sad that often the employees don't have the option of not working to spend time with their families.  I know that they typically get more pay (and so some like to work) but I feel for them.  I think it's sad how we've commercialized Thanksgiving.

Me too! I've been saying this at least a year.  DH still enjoys it, but I think it needs to be put out of its misery.

  • I hate Christmas.

There I said it. I'm excited for LO's sake and will do everything I can to make it magical for her. But for me it's become and over blown Hallmark holiday and isn't worth the stress that comes with it.

  • I do NOT like how my bf boobs look.  Everywhere I read keeps saying that your boobs turn into these porn star, big beautiful boobs, but mine looked better before, and I'm sad that they won't look like that anymore.

  • My UO. I am glad MH works holidays. His job is easy, he will work nights and can sleep. He will get home in the morning and still enjoy the holiday with us. The amount of money he will make is ridiculous, it can't be passed up.

I'm usually on the "just be grateful people give you gifts" train, but around the holidays it can be mildly annoying due to the effect on your wallet. The worst is when someone gives you a completely useless gift, but you still feel the need to reciprocate due to what seem like unspoken expectations. I used to love Star Wars as a kid (I still love it, but not in the crazed obsessive way of a 10 year old), and my aunt still buys me Star Wars crap for my birthday and Christmas. WTF am I going to do with a Star Wars trivia book that has a digital answer thing? Or a light up Yoda sign that says "Try not. Do or do not."? She just started doing this after she had her kid 4 years ago, which makes me feel like it's a subtle way of guilting me into buying gifts for her child, which is something I have done. I haven't decided if I'm getting something for her kid this year or not, but I'm leaning towards not. We have never exchanged gifts between cousins on that side of the family, and I feel like I'm guilted into doing it because of the massive age difference. Wow....that kind of turned into a rant.

This is how it was with my mom growing up.  She's an RN and works nights.  She would work Christmas eve, or the night before Thanksgiving, and make double time and a half.  The money was insane. When we were really young, sometimes my mom would work Christmas Eve and Christmas Night, and we would celebrate Christmas a day or two late, and we wouldn't know because we were too young to know what day it was.

He will be home by the time the kids wake up and leave when they go to bed! So it really works out great. They won't even notice he's gone. :)

  • I'm actually very glad the FDA is considering placing new regulations on trans fat foods (banning them or ordering manufacturers to make WITHOUT trans fat). This is amazing. I am in full support to get shitty foods off the market or at least analyzed for its nutritional value.
The government gets involved in so many areas it shouldn't - but one area is really should be in (food) it is sorely lacking.  So much went on 50-60 years ago b.c of government funding that led to the deterioration of our food, it is about time that they corrected the error of their ways.

On a similar note I am so sick of misleading claims on food products. For example, there are tons of boxes of granola bars, oatmeal, cereal, cookies, and pastries that say "no high fructose corn syrup". Then, the ingredients indicate "corn syrup" as the second listed item!

I think if someone is trying to avoid HFCS they are probably trying to avoid CS too. People don't always read the ingredients. It's messed up of food companies to trick consumers.

Meh - I am OK with corn syrup, it's just another form of sugar (where-as high fructose has been chemically modified).  Those foods need to be sweetened somehow.

Same relationship as cooking oil to partially hydrogenated oil.

I disagree. There at plenty of citizens completely against the governments involvement in "what they put in their mouth".
