Stuck in the throat ....

Ok so this is wierd and may be totally not pregnancy related, but I have felt like something is stuck on one side of my throat. It gets worse after I eat and the acid/heartburn kicks in. I'm constantly trying to clear my throat and have even gone so far as making myself throw up to clear it out, but with no luck. So now I'm at the point where it actually makes me randomly gag during the day and when that happens I have to pray I don't pee myself! Ugh!

So I'm just wondering if anyone else has had anything similar going on.....

Ugh.... Anything specific that helped you? I take papaya enzymes and tums.

I had to be on a prescription. Two actually. Pepcid and Prevacid. It took about two weeks of being on them consistently for that feeling to go away. U can take these during pregnancy. Talk to your doc. It is supppppppper annoying!!!! I know!!

I get this as well. Taking tums and sleeping with my head elevated seems to help.

To me, this sounds like LPRD. It's pretty much the same as GERD, but the symptoms are experienced higher up in your throat. (It stands for laryngopharyngeal reflux disease.) I had a really bad case of it years ago, and it caused coughing, excessive throat clearing, and laryngitis. If it sticks around, definitely talk to your doctor about it. You don't want to mess with your vocal chords too much. Good luck!

It could also be the beginning of strep throat. I had it at 16 weeks and it felt like I had swallowed something that had gotten stuck before later progressing into the worst sore throat ever...

also tonsil stones they are more prevalent when you are preg take a flashlight and look back in your throat see if any of the small pockets in the far back have white or light yellow craters.
