  • I am just glad I don't have to get naked until 36 weeks.

I don't get my pelvic exams until 36 weeks, I have ultrasounds and whatnot, but I can keep my clothes on for those.

  • OMG....maybe it's different for different for doctors. Personally I'm glad that we all are almost at the finish line. Whether we go every four wks, 2wks or everyday. I'm counting down. To me every 2 wks means we are almost there!! ;)
  • My midwives are also seeing me every other week from 28 weeks, actually, technically from 26 since that was my last appointment, but they wanted an appointment at 28 as well for rhogam, GD test, and the blood panel. Their standard is every other week from 28 weeks till 36 weeks I think, and then once a week till after babies due date. I'm excited about it because I love my appointments and in planning a home birth I feel like I have so many questions all the time... plus I just love hearing baby in there. It is hard to believe there is only one more week of second tri!

Wow, that's really early to start going that frequently for a normal pregnancy!

That's what I thought. My doc doesn't start every 2 weeks until 32 weeks as then every week at 36. But to each their own.

I'll also start going every 2 weeks at 28 weeks. eek, it's coming up so quickly! @car seat @CrisM022 I'm not sure why but I don't have to pay my copay at the OB while I'm pregnant. I know my insurance covers a lot of testing and, thankfully, almost all fertility treatments but I don't know why they don't require me to pay a copay anymore.
This is me too.  I pay a copay for all other doctors, but thankfully this pregnancy has been 100% paid for under Blue Care Network.  Even the ER visit.  I can't find anything online that explains this, and I have not yet met my deductible either.
I have a high risk pregnancy so I will go 2x a week for NST, but if I wasn't, my OB does the every other week after 28 weeks as well.  Then once a week after 36 weeks.

  • @rebecca4980 I had to go to the ER once with this pregnancy and didn't have to pay anything, including a copay. I can't figure it out because when I looked, I haven't met my deductible yet. I'm just thankful that I don't have to pay!

  • Type 1 diabetes....sometimes it's every week, I get scanned most visits as well so I've got pics from nearly every week of pregnancy. Considering just wearing a crop top so belly is constantly on display ready for scanning :)

Have had some issues in the past month, with fluid in the pericardial sac and an irregular heart beat for LO, but at the last scan both looked to have cleared up thankfully.
  • I read through this whole thread, and really don't know what to say. I guess since I've been every 2 weeks since day one (Due to my genetic disease) I can't somment as to if starting at 28 weeks verses 32 weeks is early or not.

I actually had an appointment at 25, and the next was scheduled for 28. At my 25 week, my bp was high, and I got the beta steroid shots, and had both the 1 and 3 hour glucose tests between week 25 & 26, with my bp running high, so I had an extra appointment Monday, which was almost 27w.

Yes, but clearly that's not normal. :)

Yeah it does start at 28 weeks
For some people, apparently, but not all. I don't know anyone who starts bi-weekly before 32 weeks unless there are unusual circumstances. It seems unnecessary.
I see what you saying but with first pregnancy I started my bi-weekly at 28 weeks and this one I am starting at 28 weeks and both pregnancies was normal so I guess it depends on your doctor.

  • Me too! I go in 3 weeks for my next OB visit then every 2 weeks after that.  Exciting!!

  • I went today at exactly 27 weeks to do my glucose test and all that jazz. The doctor said "see you in two weeks" I went "Awwwww" in an upset kind of way. I'm really trying to save my PTO. He said "Three??" I said "how about 4?" He checked my chart and my history and said "okay 4... Then after that! Every two weeks... No excuses!!" So I guess because it's been a relatively normal pregnancy he's not too concerned. I'll be between 30-31 weeks on 12/4 so I'm good with that.
