Next vacation. GTKY

Planning vacations is my favorite thing to do. Unfortunately right now we have no money nor vacation time to go anywhere and I don't know when we will be able to go,  but I want to know your plans, so may be I can get  an idea for our future vacations next summer or winter. Also if money  was not an issue where would you go travel with your LO?

  • I would go to Alaska.  I have always wanted to do an Alaskan cruise.  Flying across the country with LO and the cost have prevented us from doing it but one day we will go!

  • We are renting a cabin with some friends (DD is staying with grandma) in December near Pigeon Forge, TN. And we will take DD to FL this spring, probably April. My grandma has a condo down there we will go stay at.

No concrete vacation plans, but my husband and I are tossing around the idea of going to Arizona (Phoenix area) in February to visit his dad. I've never been to Arizona so I'm actually excited about that idea. I'm not so excited about the logistics of getting there and FIL's house is not kid-friendly at all so it won't be a relaxing trip either.

Our friends have invited us to come with them in April to Tampa and stay at her parent's house down there. It would be a fun getaway and I really hope we're able to make it work. Plus I am so excited to take Liam to the beach for the first time. I think he's going to love it!

If money wasn't an issue then I would love to take DS to Disney World next fall. I hate to go when he's too young to get much out of it and won't remember any of it, but if money wasn't an issue then I would be fine taking him now because I would just take him again in the future when's older!

Actually I think next fall is a good time to take them - the tickets are free to all Disney parks for babies until 3 years old - so we all should take advantage of this.

  • @hijinx we plan on taking DD to Disney spring of 2015. Gives us lots of time to save & she will still be free!! I had a friend who just took her 18m DD and she loved it. So they may not remember it but they will still enjoy it!! And you never know, he might retain some memories from the trip!

Based on the answers we should have a J12 get together at Disney World sometimes next fall :)

@bellaxanthe - I love all your plans - sounds like you will be busy next year with all these trips.

@MrsKBerloI love Scottland - we were there summer of 2011 - it was the best place to visit imo - so beautiful.

@Bliz1712 - a free family trip to Costa Rica sounds like a dream come true! Jealous :)

  • We are planning a trip to Orlando in March, I am likely to have some questions for locals soon! Not looking forward to 10 hours on a plane with a 20 month old, but after 2 the cost of a seat means we won't be travelling transatlantic for a while. Money no object - a trip to New Zealand to see my sister, I know she's really struggling not seeing Hayden grow up. And yes, Scotland is great, come visit!!

  • Next vacation was supposed to be a trip to North Carolina in March with my paretns to visit family friends.  One of those friends just passed away, so not sure his widow will want us all there so soon now.

Somewhere in the line-up for the next few years is back to Omaha for the CWS and zoo and Charleston.

I'm already daydreaming of when TheBoy and I get to take E to England and Scotland.  Similarly waivering on how much money to spend when they're so young.

  • @bellaxanthe - I'm always telling TheBoy how cool the Omaha zoo is.   And I was well into my 20s when I went!  :-)

He'd like for us to go to The SanDiego zoo sometime, so hopefully E likes zoos....

  • We're taking DD to Disney world next fall and are planning road trip to Gettysburg and Washington DC in June with my side of the family. I love vacations!

  • Either San Diego or Savannah/Jacksonville in March! Can't wait!

  • We're hoping to make it to Jordan in November 2014, but we might wait an extra year so that Tumaini is old enough to enjoy a camel ride. If we push that trip to 2015, we would go to Costa Rica or Brazil (but we'd avoid Rio de Janeiro) with her next year.

We'll also be flying to Florida this winter to spend some time with my parents.

  • If money was no issue I'd probably go to an all inclusive resort that is kid friendly.

Our next vacation is supposed to be in January.  MIL offered to buy us tickets to Las Vegas to visit SIL (although they have yet to be purchased so this isn't in stone).  While out there we plan on driving to Disneyland and spending a day there (my mom offered to buy our tickets for Disney so this trip will be a relatively cheap vacation).

  • Well, since we just spent close to $2000 on our friends' wedding, we won't be going any where any time soon. I would love to be able to go to Tampa in March for my/ my dad's birthday, but I don't see that happening.
I would love to take a trip to Saint Miguel Azores. I went in 2003 and it was amazing.

  • Well, we seem to have constant requests from family and friends to visit, but we just cannot do all the trips! My sister and her BF live in FL part of the year and Philly the other part of the year, so of course we want to visit both destinations. My SIL lives in Portland and really wants us to visit - or really just Riley - to visit :) My IL's are doing a winter in AZ, so they will want us to visit in Feb. And lastly, my college friends in Denver are bugging us to come out for a weekend.

Honestly, I have no plans to do ANY of these trips...but we have to figure it out soon!! Out of all these trips, I'd really prefer just a family trip on our own, or a kid-free trip with my H.

  • We are planning on going to HI next year.  I am super excited, but not looking forward to the flying part with LO.  I have never been there and we never took a honeymoon, so I am really excited to go to paradise!  We are taking my in-laws with us so we have a babysitter!  At least they are cool. :)
